---- Aurora's POV ----

The moon goddess is definitely punishing me for something I did in my past life. It's been a week since we came back from our trip and it's been a week since Wolfgang moved into my house.

To say it has been the most awkward situation to live with your mate, the same one who a couple of months ago was determined to reject me and treated me like trash is an understatement. He now roams around my house like a good housewife cooking, cleaning and even doing the laundry. I cannot deny that his cooking is superb. I think I might be getting overweight because of him, but it still is super uncomfortable.

"So, how's the life of a married couple coming along so far?" Emma asked through the phone.

"That's not funny Em." I rolled my eyes ate her.

I was currently sitting in the living room face timing with my best friend as I skimmed through Netflix for something interesting to watch. Wolfgang was out at a meeting so I had the place to myself.

"Oh, come on Rors. It can't be that bad, right? He's your mate afte...' I gave her a death glare that made her shut up right away.

"Don't you dare finish that sentence." I said to her before turning my attention back to the TV screen.

"Geez, you've changed so much. I wonder if ill recognize you when I get back?" She said as she huffed out. "Speaking of which, you are gonna meet me at the bus station, right? Mom won't be able because she has the night shift." She said as her face lit up in eagerness.

"Of course. When's the date?" I asked knowing well what day Emma was arriving.

"Aurora Craton! It's in three days from today! And you call yourself my best friend." She huffed as she shook her head and I couldn't help but laugh at her.

"Right, right. On the eleventh. The last bus from Washington, right?" I said and her face immediately lit up once more.

"Yes! So, make sure to not be late!" She ordered to which I saluted. We both broke in a fit of laughter as I continued scrolling through the series pick. We continued chatting about random stuff when I heard the jingle of keys before the front door opened. Yeah, he had the nerve of even getting out a copy of my keys.

"Hubby is back. I better go then so I can give you guy's privacy." She said as she wiggled her eyebrows before blowing a kiss and hanging up. I sighed and shook my head before putting down the phone and concentrating on the TV screen.

"Hey." He said casually as he walked over where I was and sat on the couch next to me.

"How'd it went at the meeting? Any clue on our latest foe?" I asked not even looking in his direction.

"So far nothing. It's as if they knew our every move. How we work here at the pack. He roams around the boundaries but the seekers haven't been able to sniff them out."

I hummed in response not really caring to continue the conversation, so we sat there in an uncomfortable silence for the next three minutes before he finally spoke again.

"Aurora, I've been meaning to ask you. I know you don't want me near you but has it really been that awful sharing a roof with me?" He asked all of a sudden.

To say it caught me off guard was an understatement, and I'm sure the shock was edged in my face.

"I know I was a terrible mate to you in the past Aurora. But please give me the chance to make it up. I promise I'll give you life so grand, you won't be able to remember the pain and sorrow you had to face." He said as he stretched his hand out and gently grabbed mine. "I want us to start over Aurora." He said and his eyes once more held softness mi could almost melt to them.

"Say something." Rhea exclaimed making me snap out of my thoughts.

"All I ever wanted all my life was that the moon goddess grants me a mate as loving and caring as my father was to both my mother and Montana. The moment I found out we were mates, all I wanted was for you to look at me the way you're doing now. Yet all I got was your disdain and every time I tried to get close, you did everything possible to push me away. And now you are asking me to start fresh? That you'll make me forget all the pain and sorrow?" I said all in one breathe. "I doubt it, because all of my pain and sorrow has been caused mainly because of you!" I spat as I jerked my hand out of his grip and walked out the door.

I know by now am being childish but I cannot help it. Wolfgang ruined me the moment he could not accept me as his mate.

"You mean going out... like a couple?" I asked him still bewildered.

"Well, yeah. Like a couple. I thought that since you don't want to accept Wolfgang after all the shity things he did to you, and I still haven't found my mate yet, maybe we are destined to be together... Don't you think?" He asked, his cheeks coated in red.

"I don't know what to say Max." I really didn't know what to say. All this time I've always seen Max as an older brother. I never thought of him as anything else, but he was right. He was unmated and well, things between Wolfgang and I didn't work out so well to begin with.

"You don't have to give me an answer right away Rors. Just think about it and let me know, kay?" He said with that bright smile of his. "I gotta run, I should be back out patrolling. I'll drop by tomorrow at your place and you can tell me your answer then, okay?" He said.

I could only nod my head when he smiled once more and dashed off to the forest.

"Right. Then I'll be waiting eagerly for your reply tomorrow Rory. Bye." He waved as he vanished between the trees.

"What just happen?" I questioned myself.

"I think the beta just confessed that he likes you Aurora." Rhea answered as she stood there in shock as well. "What are you going to do about it? It wouldn't be fair to our mate but I wouldn't like to break the beta's heart either." She said and she was right.

"Well, we could call it even with our mate. After all he dated that Tallulah bitch." I scoffed.

"Your kind of right." Rhea huffed as well. I couldn't believe she was agreeing with me so easily about this but was it really alright for me to go out with Max?

I guess I'll have a long restless night pondering about this.
