I sat straight up and realized my clothes from the night before were changed. But I relaxed slightly, knowing that Alfie must have picked them out for me, not Dominic, because I wore my favorite band t-shirt and my favorite pair of leggings. This was the outfit I wore when I needed comfort the most, my favorite pajama duo.
I threw the covers off of me, tiptoeing to the door out of the room. Just as my hand enclosed around the doorknob, the door swung open and away from me. I jumped a little, before blushing at the floor as Dominic stood over me. Power vibrated off of him, making even me want to submit. Especially after what he did to me yesterday.
"Good morning, princess," he greeted evenly. "How long have you been awake?"
"Not long, sir." Sir? What was wrong with me? Be strong, Cara! Don't submit!
Dominic jerked his chin back towards the bed, and I obediently spun on my heel and slumped back, sitting on the edge of it. "I like the sound of that. Finally some respect out of you," he claimed in reference to what I called him. "Dickwad was getting a little old."
He set a plate of eggs and bacon onto my lap before sitting beside me. "You slept straight through breakfast. Which was comical. Alfred and the other pups your age thought I'd killed you. It was amusing, to say the least."
I quirked my head in confusion. "Alfie doesn't know I'm here?"
"Nope. No one except your Alpha and my second."
"But he picked out my clothes?"
Dominic snickered, shaking his head. "I did."
My face paled. "Did... Did you change me too?" I whispered.
"I did, actually. I figured you liked that duo the best, since they both have your scent engraved into them."
"M-my scent?" I stuttered.
The alpha chuckled in my expense, nodding. "Yes. Yours is a mixture of mint and some type of melon. Of all of your clothes, those smelled the strongest of it." As he spoke, his body leaned towards me, eyes narrowing with a wicked glint when he caught how my breathing changed in the minimizing distance between us.
That made me sick - the lack of space I had currently, and the fact that he had snooped through all my stuff. He had been alone in my bedroom. "Once you eat, I need to swing you back by your home. Unfortunately, I have more courting to do."
The sooner I eat, the sooner I'm away from this dick. So I basically swallowed all the food whole and bolted down the stairs, with him following close behind.
"How does your hip feel, sugar?" He asked softly, reaching around my waist and pressing his hand against the once-tender spot. It felt completely normal. He prodded it tentatively, his lips pressing into my temple as he smirked. "Isn't that nice? To have it all healed up?"
"Stop it," I mumbled, recoiling away from him. Instead, he pressed himself further into my back. "Dominic-"
I was released, and I bolted up to Alfie's room, slamming and locking the door behind me.
Alfie shot up from his place on his bed, grinning at me. "You spent the night with him. You little-"
"No! No. Hell, no. What all did you hear about yesterday?"
He snorted, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms. "Not much. But I can connect the dots. You ran away from me and tried to escape and got caught. And he took you back to his house and you made sweet, passionate- No. This is King Dominic we're talking about. He was rough, huh? I bet he-"
I punched his shoulder hard, gritting my teeth. "Shut up! That's not true. I got caught, and he freaking made me run for my life through the forest while his stupid wolf chased me down. And then he almost drowned me!" I snapped. "In punishment, he had to heal me. You know how I feel about that."
"A little blood from the wrist, it isn't a big deal, Kara. If that's all the punishment you got, you should consider yourself lucky."
I ran to his bed and fell face-first into it. "It wasn't from his wrist, Alf. It was from his throat."
He pinched my side so I would look at him. "Tell me you're lying. He didn't," he murmured in surprise. I rolled my eyes, nodding. "He might as well have just told the whole pack he's chosen you."
