Chapter 601

Cale lifted his gaze from his plate. “Until my business here is completely finished. At least until Daven says everything at Callister Group is running normally again.” He paused briefly. “Maybe… a few more days.’

“Just a few days?”

“Yes.”

Lydia cut a small piece of chicken on her plate before speaking again. “I thought you wanted to stay longer.”

“The branch office is still waiting,” Cale said. “You know that.”

Lydia nodded slightly. It was a reasonable explanation.

For almost two years now, they had mostly been working in the same country, more precisely, Cale had dragged Lydia along with him wherever he went. Lydia didn’t mind, though. In fact, she felt like it had allowed her to explore her potential far more freely.

SunCity, for them, had become more of a temporary stop-even though Cale’s family lived there.

“I can’t leave my work for too long either,” Lydia said after a moment. “My clients have already started sending messages since this morning.”

Cale watched her quietly. “You can handle it from here.”

“I already am.” Lydia gave a small smile. “Thankfully, some of the projects can be handled remotely.”

Cale nodded slowly.

Then Lydia looked at him again, her expression a little more serious now.

“If we really get married in a month…” she said carefully, “where would we do it?”

Cale paused halfway through cutting his food. “Why are you asking that?”

Lydia blinked at him in disbelief. “You’re… seriously asking me that?”

“It’s obvious we’ll do it in SunCity,” Cale replied calmly. “After that, we’ll go back to Hong Kong, I’ll return to managing the branch there.” He leaned back in his chair as if the matter were already settled.

Lydia pressed her hand to her forehead and shook her head. “That is the least romantic answer I’ve ever heard.”

“I never claimed to be romantic.”

“That much is obvious.” Lydia went back to her food.

Cale gave a faint smile. “You wouldn’t mind if, after we get married, we end up living in Hong Kong?”

Lydia studied him for several seconds before answering. “I don’t mind,” she said at last. “I’ll just need a little time to wrap up the remaining work at my current office.”

“Good.”

“But I’ll still come back to SunCity once in a while.”

“No one’s stopping you.”

Lydia narrowed her eyes slightly. “You’re not suddenly going to turn into an overly possessive husband, are you?”

Cale looked at her flatly. “You’ve known me for almost two years. And besides, you’ll mostly be seeing my family, won’t you?”

Lydia laughed. “You’re right.”

They returned to their lunch in comfortable silence. Once their plates were nearly empty, Lydia leaned back more casually in her chair.

“How was your work today?” Cale asked.

“A two-hour meeting with a buyer.”

“Successful?”

Lydia nodded quickly. “They bought the unit on the twentieth floor.”

Cale’s smile widened. “Good.”

“You’re not surprised?”

“You rarely fail.”

Lydia lifted an eyebrow. “A compliment from Cale Miller is a rare thing. I guess today really is strange.”

Cale chuckled softly.

Their lunch continued calmly. There wasn’t much conversation, but the atmosphere between them felt easy. Every now and then Lydia glanced at Cale, noticing how much more relaxed he seemed than usual.

“What are you doing after this?” Lydia asked, glancing at the watch around her wrist. It was already almost three o’clock. Luckily, she didn’t have any more meetings scheduled. She was planning to stop by the supermarket and buy ingredients to make fruit pudding.

Grace and Eli both loved puddings, and she wanted to make it with them.

“Nothing,” Cale replied lightly.

Lydia paused mid-bite, her brow furrowing. “You’re… sure? Didn’t you say you were helping Daven?”

“Arsen just sent a message,” Cale said. “Everything’s been handled. Tomorrow we’re meeting Richard to

discuss the charges against Harold and Selena.”

Lydia gave a small nod. “If you don’t have any plans, come with me to the super-”

“I booked a room here,” Cale interrupted casually, taking a sip of the wine in front of him. “Do you mind?” 1

Lydia swallowed her food slowly.
