"I've already confirmed that they received your invitation, Mr. Silas," one of the staff members reported as soon as he entered Don Falcon's office.

The man turned and looked at the staff member with a faint smile. "Good." He then glanced at Don Falcon, who was still busy with his paperwork.

Sensing the attention on him, Falcon looked up. "Yeah, that's good. Now we just wait, right?"

Silas grinned. He dismissed the staff member from his office. And without needing a second instruction, the man excused himself and left. "Don't forget your role this time. The success of our plan depends largely on you."

Falcon laughed. "Yeah, I know." He returned to his report. During his stay in Carrington Bay, he had left behind a great deal of work in Berlin that still required his attention. He had lost count of how many times his father had asked him to return, but Falcon had no intention of giving up so easily. Until he brought Naomi back to Berlin, he had no plans to leave this country.

To him, Naomi was a symbol of success for a certain obsession he harbored.

The harder something was to obtain, the more it challenged whatever lay within Falcon.

Once he felt there was no longer too much work demanding his attention and time, Falcon set aside his tablet. He instructed his assistant to handle the remaining tasks under his supervision. Then he focused his attention on Silas.

"Are you sure your plan will work this time?"

Silas stared at Falcon for a moment before laughing. "You doubt me?"

"No." Falcon loosened the collar of his shirt. "It's just... a party?"

"This isn't just an ordinary party. It's a business gathering among members of the Devereux family. It's extremely important for us to build partnerships among all of them. Including Kai."

Falcon let out a quiet sigh. "I don't care about useless crowds like that. As long as I achieve my goal, I'll follow all of your advice."

Silas nodded slowly. "Just keep your ego in check. Usually, a woman who has bad memories involving a man, especially someone like you, will react with hostility."

Falcon clicked his tongue. He took out a cigar and leaned back comfortably in his chair. With practiced skill, he cut the tip and lit it. Thin smoke gradually filled part of the room as Falcon enjoyed his cigar. The daylight streaming through the large windows reflected off the surface of the desk, creating an atmosphere far calmer than the content of their conversation.

Silas watched the man for several moments before pouring himself a little more drink into the crystal glass in front of him.

"You seem much calmer than when you first arrived in Carrington Bay."

Falcon chuckled softly. "That's because when I first arrived, I had no idea where to begin."

"And now?"

"At least I have a clear goal."

Silas nodded slowly. That answer didn't surprise him. From the very beginning, Don Falcon had never been a man who gave up easily. Quite the opposite. The harder something was to obtain, the stronger his desire to have it became.

And Naomi was one of those things.

"Sometimes I still wonder." Falcon slowly rotated the glass in his hand. "What exactly did Cale Miller see in that girl that made him go this far? He already has a wife, doesn't he?"

Falcon slid one of the envelopes on his desk toward himself. He pulled out its contents: photographs taken from various angles. Several of them showed a long-haired girl who looked awkward standing among an unfamiliar family. But one particular photograph caught Falcon's attention.

Naomi stood between Cale and Lydia. Even though there was a cheerful little girl in the picture as well, the fact remained that they were all in the same frame.

"Looks like a man deeply in love with his wife while keeping another girl in his house. Quite impressive for someone like Cale Miller."

Silas did not answer immediately. Instead, he walked toward the window and gazed out at the city stretching below. The bustling streets of Carrington Bay were visible from where he stood.

"I think you're misunderstanding one thing."

Falcon raised an eyebrow.

"Cale isn't acting like a man who's in love, especially not with Naomi."
