The doctor resumed the examination, this time much more carefully. His fingers gently pressed several points on Lydia's abdomen, occasionally watching for changes in her expression. The longer the examination continued, the more serious the middle-aged man's expression became.

That subtle change did not escape Jasper's notice. "Is something wrong?" he asked quietly.

The doctor did not answer immediately. Instead, he reopened his medical case, took out a digital blood pressure monitor and a small flashlight, then examined Lydia once again. He counted her pulse much longer than before, then checked her blood pressure again, as though wanting to make sure the results he had just obtained were not a mistake.

The room fell silent once more.

No one dared interrupt the doctor's concentration. Several minutes later, the man slowly lowered his hands. A long breath escaped his lips before he turned to Jasper.

"I need to speak with you."

Silas, who had been leaning casually against the window all this time, immediately clicked his tongue. "If you have something to say, just say it."

The doctor shook his head slightly. "I'd rather not say it in front of everyone."

Silas let out a dismissive laugh. "Is there really a secret that important?"

The doctor's gaze shifted briefly to Lydia before returning to Jasper. "I only want to explain the examination results clearly."

Silas pushed himself away from the window. "She stays here."

"Mrs. Lydia does need to know her condition," the doctor replied calmly. "But I can't explain everything if the situation remains like this."

His words plunged the room into silence once more.

Jasper caught something in the doctor's expression. The man had deliberately chose his words, as though signaling that there was something he could not say while Silas was still in the room.

Jasper turned his gaze to Silas. "Let's step outside for a moment."

Silas did not move an inch. Instead, he narrowed his eyes at the doctor. "Since when do you get to tell me what to do?"

"I only want to explain the examination results."

"I'm staying here," Silas refused.

"No." Jasper's answer was far firmer this time. "Let's step outside, Mr. Silas. Show some respect to the medical team if you want your objective to succeed. If Mrs. Lydia becomes a corpse right now, do you really think you'll achieve your goal?"

Those words provoked Silas's temper. He nearly threw a punch straight at Jasper's face. But remembering everything Jasper had done for him, Silas restrained himself.

The two men locked eyes once again. Neither was willing to yield. Even the guards standing near the door unconsciously held their breath, realizing that the simple conversation was slowly turning into a battle of wills.

A few seconds later, the corner of Silas's lips slowly lifted.

"Very well." His tone remained light, but there wasn't the slightest hint of a smile in his eyes.
