Several people immediately rushed out of the villa to help carry Jasper. As his body was transferred onto an improvised stretcher, his head slumped to one side. Lydia instinctively gripped his arm.

"Mr. Jasper."

There was no response. The man's eyes finally closed completely. The body that had been holding on through sheer force of will finally gave in once he was certain Lydia had reached her destination.

The doctor and several servants immediately pushed the stretcher into the house. Their hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway filled with the scent of antiseptic, while Hector walked quickly behind them, never taking his eyes off Jasper's condition.

Only after the group disappeared behind the door did Hector turn back to Lydia. Now he could truly see her condition.

The look in Hector's eyes slowly changed. Deep down, he realized one thing. Silas had taken everything far too far. He hadn't merely kept Lydia captive. He had been breaking her down little by little.

"You should get some rest," Hector said in a much gentler tone. "You've been through more than enough today."

Those simple words were what finally brought Lydia back to herself.

Her gaze slowly swept across the unfamiliar building around her. She had never seen this classical-style villa before. Several people hurried back and forth carrying medical equipment, while other servants rushed to shut every door and window, as though the place had been prepared for an emergency.

Lydia frowned. The wariness that had kept her going all this time resurfaced.

"You..." Her voice came out hoarse. "...who are you?"

Hector had just opened his mouth when the sound of hurried footsteps shattered the silence.

"Sir!"

A servant came running from the direction of the treatment room. His face was pale, his breathing ragged, and he nearly lost his balance as he stopped in front of Hector.

"Mr. Jasper—"

Hector immediately turned to him. "What happened to him?"

"He needs a blood transfusion immediately, sir." The servant's voice trembled. "He's lost far more blood than the doctor expected. If he isn't treated right away..."
