Elysia looked suspicious. "Do you know me?"

The man smiled and countered, "Do you know me?"

Elysia shook her head. "No."

The man chuckled. "If you don't know me, why did you save me?"

Elysia paused for a moment.

"I saw someone who needed help, and I happened to be able to provide it, so I came over. Isn't that a normal reaction for any decent person?"

What did knowing each other have to do with it?

The man smiled. "When you put it that way, it makes me look quite abnormal."

Elysia glanced up at him but didn't ask further questions, simply returning her attention to his wounds.

"Aren't you curious why he stabbed me?" the man asked.

"It's none of my business," Elysia said as she worked.

The man smiled. "It really is none of your business, but the person who stabbed me..."

He frowned slightly as he spoke, falling into a brief moment of thought.

Elysia looked at him again, assuming the pain had finally caught up to him, and didn't think much of it.

But a second later, he spoke again.

"He used to be so good to me. He couldn't bear to see me get even a scratch. But then he changed. Not only does he no longer care about my pain, but he also rubs salt in my wounds."

"Tell me, why do you think he changed?"
