"The saying is, bros before hoes," Caiden said shaking his head at him and shutting the door.
"Really?" Nick asked and Caiden nodded his head.
"Oh well then you know what they say man bros before hoes," Nick said and Caiden just shook his head.
"You're an idiot," Nick's eyes landed on my figure laying on my bed and stared almost longingly at me. I was sure I was staring at him almost the same exact way.
"What the fuck are you doing here and why is there popcorn everywhere?" Caiden hissed glaring at me.
"This is my dorm too," I retorted rolling my eyes focusing my eyes now on the TV where The Phantom of The Opera was playing.
"You're so fucking girly and I thought you finally moved out," he said shutting off the TV at the part where Christine started to sing Think Of Me.
"I was watching that!" I hissed throwing a pillow at him. Seeing that part of Caiden made my fear of him completely go away.
"Who the fuck do you think you are? You are a peasant in my eyes. Stop acting like you're higher than me," Caiden hissed, picking up my petite body by the collar of my shirt. Okay I lied I'm scared shitless.
"Caiden, just leave him alone," Nick muttered grabbing a Dr. Pepper out of Caiden's mini fridge. Caiden threw me back on my bed before grabbing a change of clothes and heading toward the bathroom. The second the door shut Nick was talking to me.
"So are we seriously going to let Jax get in between us?" Nick asked keeping his distance and talking in a hushed voice.
"What choice do we have?! Nick, I was here to find out about my dad. No, was I still am here to find out about him. Maybe after that is all figured out we can try again without anyone getting between us," I say softly walking over to him and grabbing his hand.
"If that's what you want then fine," he says pulling his hand out of mine.
"I just have to do one more thing," he put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled me in for a kiss. It only lasted a few seconds before we both pulled away.
"I'll definitely miss that," I murmured, sitting back down on my bed. Caiden exited the bathroom dressed in a nice buttoned up dark blue shirt and black jeans.
"You ready?" Caiden asked grabbing his car keys from his table by his bed.
"Yea, let's go."
"Where are you going?" I blurted out without thinking.
"Out," Caiden hissed at the same time Nick responded with, "Drinking."
"Oh have fun with that," I murmured turning the TV back on. As the door shut behind them I knew for a fact in that moment I was officially single again.
"Open this door this instant Martez." A familiar voice hissed about a half an hour later making my heart jump a little. Walking over to the door, being careful to not step on popcorn.
"I mean do you see yourself having a future with him?" I kept quiet for a moment, thinking about it. The whole time we've been together I never once thought about the future, I always thought about the present when we were together. It's been a couple of months now and everything been perfect I guess I could have had a perfect life with him in the future.
But you don't want a perfect life.
In a way that was true. My life isn't perfect. I'm dressed as a guy in a male university. I wouldn't call that a normal or perfect life. But in reality what is the definition of normal? How would I know if I was fitting the normal category anyways?
"No, I don't think I could see a future with him, yet, I still had plenty of time to figure that out," I told him licking my dry lips. "Hey Nathan I have a question for you," I say suddenly as I lay my head in his lap.
"Ask away."
"What is the definition of normal?"
"Hm, I guess it means to fit into society standard and expectations or to something that's just expected of you," Nathan said a minute later and I nodded.
"I'm not normal," I say looking up at him and he looked down at me and ended up bursting out in laughter.
"What?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It's strange to see you as a brunette with your head down in my lap. And Claire, please tell me something I don't know. I've known you were normal since the day we met," making me smile up at him. Not fitting into society's expectations seemed like a perfect life for me.
