"I'm dying, Jace," she cried. "I'm going to die. I'm scared." That broke my heart. Tears started coming from my eyes and I held her close.

No one will ever know how bad I wanted to tell her that she would be all right. But she wouldn't be. My mate, my baby, my life was going to die and I could save her. "Tell me something I don't know about you," I told her to try to get her to not think about it.

The venom in her system made her wince. "I...I like to play the piano," she whispered.

"My mum loves to listen to piano music," I told her.

Dani looked at me with her green eyes. "I wish I could play for her," she said. "And I wish we could've had a good life together."

I buried my face in her hair. "Don't say that to me, baby," I said softly. "You were the best thing that had ever happened to me. And I wouldn't change a thing."

"I would," she said. "I wish I hadn't met you. That way you wouldn't have been hurt when I died."

"Dani," I whispered. "This isn't fair."

We just sat there holding each other, while Dani was in pain, but what else could I do? Henry, Savannah, Shane and Katie arrived five minutes later. I didn't care that Dani and I weren't wearing anything. I didn't care if they saw me cry. Right now, I only cared about my girl.

Katie and Savannah started crying when they saw Dani. Henry and Shane were just speechless. Eventually, we got her and myself dressed and took her to the pack house. Our doctor there had her in a solitary, small room. He said there was nothing he could do.

I knew there wasn't anything her could do either, except stay with her. I didn't leave her side once when she was in that room. I would never leave her side again.

Jace's P.O.V.

This was awful. It had been two weeks since the attack. She had gone into a coma three days ago. If things were going to happen like they did with my father, Dani would be dead before nightfall.
