"It's fine, I can do it." Without a second thought, Brandon went to get a basin of water.

As soon as he left, Lisa started lecturing me. "You went through so much to give birth to his child. Why are you hesitant to let him do something for you?"

"It's not that I'm hesitant. I'm just embarrassed," I whispered, trying to explain.

"Save it." Lisa shot back, rolling her eyes at me.

I glared at her. "When it's your turn to give birth and your husband has to handle these intimate matters for you, you'll understand."

As soon as I said that, I noticed Lisa's face turn bright red. She quickly turned away while holding the baby.

But I still caught her unusual reaction. "Why are you blushing?"

"What? No, I'm not," she denied.

What I didn't realize was that she was thinking about the strange dream she had about having a baby.

Brandon returned with the water and some disinfectant wipes, then looked at me. I sat there, too embarrassed to unbutton my clothes, so we were stuck in that awkward moment for a while. Finally, he took the initiative and reached out. Only then did I react. "Just leave the things here. I'll do it myself."

Lisa turned around at this point. "Wow, you're really being shy. I wonder how you two even managed to have a kid in the first place."

I shot her a mortified glance. "Shut up!"

"Fine, I'll give you some privacy," Lisa said, putting the baby back in the crib. "I'll come back in ten minutes, or ring the bell when you're done."

As she walked out, Brandon and I both burst out laughing. It wasn't that we were being prudish. It was just that having a third person in the room made the situation very awkward.

Lisa returned to the nurses' station and chatted with a sleepy young nurse.
