Logan was surprised by how blunt Lisa was.

After she hung up the call with Martha, he raised an eyebrow. "Do you have a death wish?"

"I'm in my late 20s. What's wrong with living with my boyfriend? She's been dying to marry me off anyway. Besides, I need to give her a heads-up, let her know that I'm already..." Lisa leaned into his chest. "...taken."

A gentle, satisfied warmth appeared in Logan's eyes.

She was truly putting in the effort this time—whether it was earlier when she wanted to confront her mom directly or now, openly telling her mother they were living together.

"Mhm, you sure are working hard," Logan murmured as he lowered his lips to hers.

Lisa didn't shy away. When two people were in love, intimacy was second nature.

After a long kiss, Lisa pushed him away. "I need to go to the hospital. My mom is definitely already there waiting for me."

"I'll go with you," Logan said, looking like he was ready to make their relationship official on the spot.

"No. Even if we show up together, she won't necessarily think that way—she'll just scold you too. Besides, I can handle her," Lisa said, then tiptoed to give him a quick peck. "Be good."

That sent a jolt through Logan. Damn, she really knew how to tease him.

Lisa shrank back a little and reminded her, "This is a hospital."

Lisa knew better than to push her too far, or she really might get smacked. "Fine, I'll come clean. This time, my boyfriend is absolutely reliable. And... you know him."

Martha was startled. "I know him?"

"I went to your uncle's place this morning and found that he was hiding a woman. Do you know who she is? What does she look like? Is she decent?" Martha bombarded her with questions.
