Logan was going out? And he had a date? Was it with a woman?

Those were Lisa's instinctive thoughts. But the thoughts had barely crossed her mind when she caught herself and chided herself for being crude. If Logan were that kind of man, would she even have the chance to be lying there right now?

He must have more important matters to deal with. But it was already so late! Who could he be meeting at such an hour? And after taking a shower which made him smell so alluring too?

Yes, alluring. The room was filled with his scent mixed with the fresh, clean scent of soap. It was far more intoxicating than any air freshener in the world.

Lisa heard the front door open and close. When she was sure that Logan had left, she pulled the sheets off and gasped for air before bolting upright.

No! She had to follow him to see where he was headed and who he was meeting! It wasn't that she didn't trust him. It was just that she was worried about him.

She quickly got dressed and quietly pulled the bedroom door open. But before she even took a step out of the room, Logan returned. She jerked back inside just in time.

Fortunately for Lisa, Logan did not go back to the bedroom. Instead, he headed for the study. Lisa peeked through the door, which was left ajar, and quickly took the opportunity to slip out of the house. She hurried over to Logan's car and snuck into the back seat.

Soon, Logan returned. He slid into the driver's seat and drove off. He even turned on some light music, which was very uncharacteristic of him. He usually preferred silence and never listened to music when driving.

Lisa had asked him about it before, to which he simply told her that it was too noisy for him. But he seemed to be in quite a different mood today. He was actually listening to music!

Hiding in the back seat, Lisa came to the conclusion that he was acting very strangely indeed. She decided that since she had already come this far, she might as well see this through.

The drive took about 20 minutes. Though the backseat was spacious, Lisa felt her limbs starting to go numb from staying crouched in the same position for too long.

An unfamiliar voice sounded in the room. Lisa couldn't see who was the one speaking, but his voice sounded rough. "Are you going to tie up all the loose ends there this time?"

A sharp crack echoed as a cue stick struck a ball. Logan hummed a low, magnetic response.

"It seems such a waste to just let go of so many years of hard work."

It sounded like the person speaking was on the other end of the table.

Lisa strained to see who it was when another person spoke up. This person had a more cheerful voice. "If there's anything Logan can't let go of, it's probably the woman he holds in his heart."

Another person made a bold statement. "There are plenty of women in the world. I'd never do something as boring as getting hung up on one."
