"Yes, I am sweetheart; Grace is taking good care of me."
"Okay mom, I just wanted to see if you were okay. I Love you."
"Love you too darling." Hanging up the phone with a smile on my face, I was happy that my mom had Grace to be there for her when I couldn't. I needed to get the best treatments possible so she could go back to her old self.
Checking the time on my phone once more, I saw it was time for me to get lunch. Taking out my purse, I walked to Adam's office to see if he wanted anything. I could hear laughter coming from inside of the room. Knocking on the door, I entered to see both him and James inside talking. "I am going to the deli; do you want anything?" I asked them both. Nodding their heads, no, I made my exit.
Walking into the deli, I went in line to place my order. While doing so, my eyes were roaming all over the place and landed on a familiar face.
It was the guy from the bookstore a few weeks ago and he was just walking in. Staring at him, I tried to figure out where I had seen him before the bookshop but I couldn't. He must have sensed me staring because he looked in my direction and held my gaze. We were like that for a few seconds before I looked away. He was a tall good-looking man with auburn hair. He had eyes that were emerald green and even though he wasn't buff, he still had a great body. Ordering my sandwich, I waited until my order was ready before I went to pick it up.
Exiting the deli, I was about to cross the street when I heard someone shout "miss."
Turning around, I saw it was the bookstore guy. Stopping, I waited for him to catch up to me.
"Hey," he greeted me.
"Hi," I replied.
"It's the second time I have seen you in the month and I couldn't help but wonder if it's a sign."
Blushing at his words I replied. "Is that so? What exactly are you trying to say?"
"Well I was wondering if we could exchange numbers and maybe go out on a date to get to know each other better," he replied shyly.
Laughing at his words I replied. "Maybe not, but if we do see each other again, I may consider taking you up on the offer."
Giving me a toothy grin, I waved goodbye before I walked away. Stopping, I turned around and said, "don't stalk me now."
After an hour's run, I went back inside and headed for the kitchen dripping with sweat. Taking the jug of orange juice out of the refrigerator, I poured myself a glass before I sat down and began to drink. "Someone looking hot and sexy; literally." I heard a voice I knew all too well behind me. Cringing, I turned around to say something when Sophia beat me to the punch.
"Amelia, if you would like to keep your job, I would advise you to get to work and stop flirting with your employer. Now go!" Walking away without saying another word, I thanked Sophia for what she just did. Smiling at me, she spoke up.
"What would you like for breakfast Adam?"
"I would like buttered toast, pancakes and some more orange juice please," I replied with a huge smile on my face.
"Coming right up son." Smiling even harder when she said the word that always melts my heart, I kissed her on her cheek before I went upstairs to take a shower. Getting outside of the bathroom, partially naked with only just a towel wrapped around my waist. I went inside my closet to take out what I was going to wear for work today. Picking out one of my white inside shirts, black slacks, black jacket and purple tie, I got dressed in them before putting on my socks and my black shoes. Going downstairs, I walked into the kitchen and sat down before Sophia handed me my breakfast which I feasted on greedily. Finishing up, I kissed her goodbye and went outside in my car where I drove off to work.
Arriving there, I made my way into my office, and as soon as I was settled in and seated I requested Emily's presence immediately.
"Emily, could you get me the Carter file please and a cup of coffee?"
