Taking her hand, she looked at me before she smiled. Opening the door for her, she got in and I went in after her. Halfway to King's Trading, she was in deep thought and I knew it had to do with something that happened earlier. "Emily are you okay? What was that about?"

"Huh, o-oh yeah I am okay and it was nothing."

"Emily don't take me for an idiot, I saw that. Do you know the man that bumped you?"

"No, I don't, so just drop it," she spoke with attitude. Lifting my hands up in surrender I did as I was told. "I'm sorry Adam, I shouldn't have spoken so harshly it's just that I thought, I thought it was–––"

"You thought it was who Emily?"

Hearing her phone ring, she took it out and answered it. Sighing, I look out the window as the car zoomed by people and buildings.

"Hey mom," she sang cheerfully inside the phone. "Adam and I are on our way to meet with the CEO of a company to sign off on a deal." There was a pause before she groaned, then she touched me on the arm and handed me the phone.

"Hello Mrs. Martinez, how are you?" I breathed in the receiver.

"I am fine handsome, I am just out with Mark and the nurse is right behind us although she is a couple of feet away."

"Is she taking care of you?" I asked seriously.

"Yeah she is but there is a reason why I wanted to talk to you." I could hear the seriousness in her voice and I braced myself for what I was about to hear. Hearing her tell Mark to continue walking and she will catch up. There was a pause before she spoke and what she said shattered me into a million pieces. "I'm dying Adam, my cancer has now moved from stage four to stage five in a short period and I know before long it will worsen. I don't want you to tell Emily this because I want her to enjoy herself and be happy. After all, she deserves this much. I am asking you to do me a favor though," she spoke softly inside the receiver.

"So why do you look so gloomy and down?"

"I was just remembering my mom. I love your mom so much, in the short period that I had known her, I have grown to love her." Smiling at me, she kissed me passionately before she lay on my shoulders. It wasn't a lie but it wasn't particularly the truth. I have grown to love Emily's mom that's why I am so heartbroken to find out this but at the same time upset that I am lying to Emily.

Arriving at Knight's Trading, we made our way inside the building into the conference room. shaking hands with Mr. Knight we got down to business. Handing him one of the contracts, he read it over before signed both of them. Making copies and keeping one of the original, we shook on it before Emily and I took our leave. Emily was clearly happy and so was I. Deciding I was going to bring her out to celebrate, we went back to the hotel where I made reservations at one of the restaurants before we went to sleep together. Waking a few hours later, I went into the bathroom to take a shower. Emerging a few minutes later, I told Emily to go get ready and to put on something fancy because we were going out.

Smiling from ear to ear, she got up and ready and within an hour she was looking beautiful as ever. Taking her arm, I led her to the elevator and inside the car that was outside waiting for us.

Stepping inside, we sat comfortably as the car began to drive. Holding to Emily's hand, I kissed it before rubbing it gently. Looking up at me, she smiled ever so often and it warms my heart. I hope that I continue to see her smile like this, to see this smile forever planted on her face. Arriving at the restaurant, I stepped out of the car and held out my hands for Emily to take it. stepping out of the car, we made our way inside the restaurant where I gave my name.
