I zone back into my father's second-in-command teaching me about how I'm supposed to rule. The clock chimes, signaling the lessons were done.
On my way to my room, I overhear two of my soldiers talking.
"Can you believe we're finally attacking those mutts?!" one of the guards shouted excitedly.
"Yeah, especially that Crescent Moon Pack its-"
"What?!" I ask them.
They look at me and quickly bow and say, "Prince Zander."
"What's this you say about an attack on the Crescent Moon Pack?!" I demanded as I knew that it was Arron's pack.
They stay silent as if debating whether to tell me or not. I glared at them and transfixed/ordered them to tell me.
"Th-the king sent some s-soldiers to attack them," one of them said shaking in fear.
I quickly jetted out of the house. Using my vampire speed, I quickly ran to the house, all with various thoughts in my head. What if they hurt Kat or Daphne? I mean sure they might not even be there but still.
Once I saw the house from a distance, I can already see that they were fighting. I smelt the air to see if I got Kat's and Daphne's smell. They're here. Shit.
I ran towards the house, as that is where they are since that's where their scent was coming from. I went inside just to see a vampire, who I happen to know is Jack and was an asshole soldier of mine, lunge at Daphne.
I say was an asshole because I lunged at him and decapitated him before he could harm Daphne. I see that Daphne has a hurt leg and Kat is just standing there, frozen and with wide eyes.
Daphne drags herself to the man on the ground that was bleeding like crazy. Once she got to him, he talked to her.
"Da-daphne," he said coughing.
They answer with a 'yes Alpha' and I quickly leave to go check on Daphne.
Luke, Ben and Sydney followed me into the house. Luke was the first one to go in and I see him freeze up by the door, blocking me from going in. Then, I see he lunges at something or someone. As I go in through the door fully, I take everything that is happening in.
I see Luke attacking Zander, I see Kat frozen in the corner, and Daphne on the floor with blood coming out of her leg which is all over the floor next to my dead third in command. One of my best friend's dad. I'm frozen at scene in front of me. Ben reacts quicker than me, and goes and pries Luke off of Zander. Luke has tears in his eyes and is all bloody. Once he finally calms down, Ben lets go and he kneels by his dad.
He takes him from Daphne and sobs hard. He gives out a howl full of distress and sadness. I hear the rest of the pack howl in sadness as they now know that the third in command has been lost today. Daphne and Ben try to calm him. It seemed that we were all crying, even me. I mean he was like a second father to me. I quickly stopped crying though as I remembered I'm the Alpha. Alphas don't cry.
I went up to Daphne and gently picked her up. She was full on sobbing and hugged me tight. I see that Sydney, even though she was sobbing herself, is trying to comfort an unresponsive Kat that just has wide eyes. I mind link everyone except Ben and Luke, and tell them to give Luke a moment and to not come into the house. I see Sydney take Kat outside, Zander following after them.
I take Daphne upstairs to my room and into the bathroom, where I set her on the counter. I get the first aid kit, not bothering to take her to the pack doctor as I knew they would be busy and wouldn't have time to help her as they were working on the more critically hurt people.
I started cleaning her wound as she kept crying. I had already stopped crying but still felt completely sad inside. As I was finishing, she said she wanted to take a shower. I left and she got in the shower while I got her a towel and some of my clothes.
