Darren arched an eyebrow, "Naturally, my network's pretty wide-reaching."

Cindy jumped in, "Congrats, Darren! Looks like another promotion is heading your way soon."

Darren shook his head, "I can't leave just yet. Even if they offer me a promotion, I'm staying put. I won't rest until I take these guys down and uncover who's really pulling the strings!"

As they were chatting, Josefina strolled in.

"Darren," Josefina called out.

Before she could come any closer, Darren made his way over to her and came to a halt.

"Thinking of tagging along to the National Security Agency to sit in on the interrogation, are you?"

Josefina grinned, "You know me too well, Darren. That's exactly my plan."

"Even if you hadn't mentioned it, I would've asked. Catching them all in one sweep is thanks to you. Josefina, you've been a massive help!"

"Darren, you're too kind. It was the least I could do."

With a few pleasantries exchanged, they headed back to the National Security Agency together.

Makiko and Cole were pacing back and forth anxiously at home.

Cole muttered, "Failed again. Another flop."

This latest setback hit them both hard.

Makiko, ever the picture of calm, poured two glasses of red wine, as if they were toasting a win.

"Cole, you know the saying, 'When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' Don't worry, things will eventually sort themselves out."

Cole looked up, squinting at her.

Makiko smiled knowingly, "Without evidence or any communication devices on them, convicting us based solely on their words would be pretty ridiculous, don’t you think?"

Cole, rattled by the repeated failures and pressure from above, finally relaxed a little, swirling his wine glass with a newfound calmness.

"Makiko, you're my guiding star. As long as you're here, I feel at ease."

Just then, Makiko's phone rang, cutting through the moment.

It was Josefina calling, and the smile vanished from Makiko's face.

"Josefina's calling me."

Cole raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
