In this standout chapter of the Romance novel Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess, Dana E. introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
Cole was on edge, completely blindsided by Josefina’s call to Makiko. How did those two even end up crossing paths?
“Go on, answer it. Let’s hear what she’s got to say,” Cole urged with a nudge.
Makiko picked up the call and hit the speakerphone.
“Josie,” Makiko greeted, her voice smooth and warm.
“Hey Makiko, here's the scoop. Our company’s throwing a new product launch mid-next month, and I’d really love for you to come. Are you free?”
Makiko breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it wasn’t about Brett, she was in the clear.
“I should be free. I don't really know anyone in Westwood, so I'd love to join. Thanks for the invite, Josie.”
“No worries, it’s a date then.” Josefina wrapped up the call.
Once the call ended, Josefina looked over at Brett and the others.
“Did you notice anything about her voice? Doesn’t it sound just like the others who come looking for you?”
Brett shook his head, “Nope, it’s not her.”
Josefina couldn’t believe it. How could it not be Makiko? Everything pointed to her visiting the neighborhood and heading towards building 11. If it wasn’t Makiko, then who was it?
Josefina wasn’t ready to let it go. Something didn’t sit right.
She glanced at Darren, who got the hint immediately.
“Why don’t you folks step outside for a bit? Let me handle this. Time to show off some of our national security moves!”
Josefina and Livia stepped out, deciding to leave the questioning to Darren.
Sitting outside, Josefina was lost in thought, trying to make sense of it all.
“How could it not be Makiko?” Livia said, both annoyed and frustrated.
“I’m on my way,” Cole replied, excitement bubbling inside him.
Making a splash was the first step to securing their place in the Baldwin family.
Makiko was all smiles, glad she’d gotten Rhett on board. His talents were clear as day. He hadn’t been with the company long, but he was already pulling off impressive feats. Definitely something to celebrate.
…
Oliver had caught wind of Idea Tech’s success too, holding a dossier from the company.
George chimed in, “Mr. Oliver, Wilder studied medicine and wanted to be a doctor, but now he’s jumped into business and is showing exceptional management skills. Cole’s a regular at the company, brainstorming with Wilder about its future.”
Oliver took it all in, realizing Cole might indeed be a managerial gem.
“As for the terms on which Rhett was brought in, I haven’t been able to dig those up yet…” George admitted, his voice trailing off, clearly uneasy.
Coming up short, he worried about Oliver’s reaction.
