Josefina had been scheming to kidnap Rowan for ages.

She had someone tail him, mapping out his daily routine down to the last detail. Then, on a pitch-black night, she made her move with Oliver by her side.

Rowan, the perpetual flirt, couldn’t seem to stay faithful to Sydney and was always chasing skirts.

Josefina enlisted a lounge singer, whispered some instructions, and soon enough, Rowan was led into another room of the nightclub.

...

Rowan walked in, expecting the lounge singer, but instead found Oliver and Josefina waiting for him.

Furious, Rowan pointed at Oliver and barked, “What the heck are you doing here? Trying to cause trouble?”

Oliver, seated with an aura of unshakable authority, looked like he could handle anything thrown his way.

“Rowan, I need to ask you something. Why don’t you take a seat? All this yelling, doesn’t it tire you out?”

Rowan slumped into a chair opposite Oliver, his gaze icy. “What do you want?”

Josefina stepped closer, standing beside Oliver.

Oliver began, “I have a necklace. I need to know if you gave it to my mother years ago. If so, I want to return it.”

As Josefina displayed the necklace, it slipped from her grasp.

The necklace swung back and forth, and as it did, Rowan’s expression shifted. Eventually, he closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair.

“Should we lay him down?” Josefina asked, worried Rowan might fall and hurt himself, raising suspicion.

Oliver, unfazed, replied, “No need. The chair’s not that high. He won’t die from a fall.”

Josefina thought, “...”

Fine, if Oliver wasn’t worried, neither was she. It wasn’t her dad, after all.
