Beatty was perched on the back of an e-bike, eyes glued to the GPS tracker on her phone. The biting wind had practically frozen her face, and her hands were like blocks of ice.

"Keep going," she murmured. "We're almost there. Just six more miles."

Surrounded by bare trees and thick brush, the convoy of unlit e-bikes navigated the rugged forest terrain in near silence. Relying entirely on night vision goggles to spot the trail, the riders struggled against the freezing wind that left them stiff and numb.

Suddenly, her eyes narrowed in concentration. "Wait. They're moving."

The man driving coughed. "They must be back in the cars. The target is moving fast."

"Which direction?"

"Southeast," Beatty replied. "Just keep chasing them straight ahead. Go."

"Hold on," Tristan ordered, stopping them. "Sync this data to our phones first. We can't take the cars. They're too obvious, and Benjamin's crew will spot us instantly."

Tristan shot the men a look. They rounded the back of the SUV, popped the trunk, and hauled out two folding bicycles, dropping them onto the dirt.

Elizabeth frowned. "Only two bikes. That's a four-person limit."

Tristan's voice was steady. "Then it's four. The four of us guys will take them."

He turned to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, take the car and head back to find Rose. She mentioned having a secured phone modified by the police. Get with her, make the call, and have the cops figure out a way to assist."
