"That's--"
Before he could say anything, I grabbed Ashley's arm and went out. She didn't say anything and just moved along.
I left her in front of the car and went to sit down on the driver's seat. She also made it towards the passenger's seat.
The car started but she didn't dare say anything. I sighed. "Did you really get those vibes from me? Did you really feel that I would..." my voice trailed down. I have never even touched her without her permission.
"No... I swear no"
"Then you should have believed me"
"Lara..." she sighed. "Did she tell you this?"
"Yes"
"She... She is working with Chris"
"What?" The car stopped. She looked at me. "So you didn't say that I used to do that? You didn't believe it? That was a lie?"
"yes... I... okay, see... I was ninety-nine percent sure you didn't... but it was past so I... I thought maybe..."
"Damn it" the car started. "I don't wanna see her face in our house"
"Will... will you let me ask her why she did it?"
"Yes"
"Thanks"
I didn't say anything. I was still angry about it. But I was more concerned about this Lara thing. Why would she lie and destroy her sister's relationship?
We reached our home and I stopped the car. She got out and I followed her. She looked enraged.
She rang the doorbell. "Calm down" I whispered.
"I am sorry, I can't" She looked at the gate but no one opened the door.
I bent down as I saw something. There was a note kept just below the door, one can just see it. I pulled it.
"What is it?" Ashley asked and I opened the note.
"You were late. You will never see her again.
You want to know who this is, when you already know the answer.
Maybe you are just confused, but well, who cares?"
I handed the note to her and as she read it, tears formed in her eyes. "What the... I... Where is she, Vincent?"
I looked down and sighed. "Don't worry, we will find her"
She nodded, while it seemed as if her world was sinking. I can understand, she was the only family she had now.
"Come on in"
I opened the door with the key that was there along with the note. We entered and she went straight to her room.
I followed her. "Are you okay?"
"Feels like..." she sighed. "I... don't care about me. Please find Lara..."
"I will" I looked down.
"What's wrong?" she asked me.
"Who do you think did it?"
"Chris! Of course him!"
I nodded. "Fine, I will see to it"
She nodded back. I was furious and I knew just what to do.
I went downstairs and then to my car. I drove to Chris.
