In this standout chapter of the Internet novel My mate, My exception, Patrick Rob introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
"You'll stay by my side tonight right?" She asks me in my ear, her voice barely a whisper.
"Of course." I sigh hugging her. I never thought a mate could be a bad thing before Anna met Tyler.
A half an hour later we were finished getting ready and prepared to go downstairs.
Well, actually I was finished. Anna had just sat there in the time it took me staring of into space. I pulled some of her hair back from her face in a attractive way, but didn't bother on her make up. I wasn't that good at it myself and she still looked pretty without it.
When we walked down the steps, Tyler was waiting there for Anna. He looked in awe at first, staring at her beautiful form, then he returned to his sad smile. Jake said Tyler knew she was upset, but his wolf wouldn't accept it.
They were going to introduce us on the deck, since the house was in front of a hill that declined into the forest. They said they would need the room, although I only imagined a small group would show.
"Both my girls look so beautiful!" Melissa squeals, approaching us and wrapping us in her arms. Considering she was my mother-in-law, I knew that I wanted to get to know her, but hadn't really talked to her much, besides the two dinners we had eaten together.
David was also there, although he didn't squeal and hug us like his wife did, but I was okay by that.
"Are you ready to begin?" He asks after his mate had flustered over both of us.
"Yes." Tyler answered before any of us could. I realized the question was really only directed to him anyway, so I was glad I hadn't answered first.
Jake placed himself by my side again while Tyler stood next to Anna. While Jake wrapped his arm around my waist and puffed out his chest, Tyler and Anna didn't touch. She simply stood there with her thin arms wrapped around herself.
I felt bad for Tyler and my heart went out to Anna, and Jace.
We walked out onto the deck and I couldn't prevent my jaw from dropping. The small group I had imagined was huge. The people were all the way from the steps of the deck and spread right to the line of the forests, some past it, sitting in the shadows.
I jumped out of the bed causing me to trip once I landed and smack on the ground.
"Are you okay?" Jake called from the bathroom, as I rolled around, silently cussing at my ankle.
"Yeah, I'm good." I yelled out. I slowly stood back up and hurried over to my dresser to look for some nice pj's.
Although we weren't doing it tonight, marking was supposed to be a very intimate moment. Anna had explained it to me before she had gone psycho-like (a.k.a, before she met Tyler).
To sum it all up it sounds like you get into a pretty heated make out session before the male briefly loses control to his wolf, marking his mate. Even if I would end up rolling around from pain, I wanted to look good in this short time we'd have together before it.
I wore a pair of short, silk shorts and a matching tank top. My hair had fallen into lose curls that still looked nice, even if my make up was now blah. I would take it off, but I didn't want to go into the bathroom where Jake was.
