"Y-yeah, the scan is right th-this way." She got up and I followed her to a room across the hall. Luca and Micah followed as well.

The scan occupied one of the walls and against the other was a dresser-like cabinet thing. The nurse opened a few drawers before she pulled out a tie-in-the-back hospital gown.

She didn't say anything as she held it out to me. I grabbed it from her hands and looked around to the three people in the room. From their waiting expressions, I figured they weren't leaving.

I put the neck of the gown between my teeth, and facing them, I pulled Jake's shirt off. I let it drop to the ground behind me and I quickly tied the thing around me. Then I slid my bra, pants, and underwear off after I knew I was covered from their view.

"Smooth move." Micah mocked. He walked out of the room lazily and I was sure he was going to another exam room somewhere that would receive my results.

The nurse reached for my clothes but I quickly got in her way. By fast movement made he jump back several feet and I kinda felt bad.

"Can I please keep them?" I ask, mostly to Luca.

"Yeah whatever, just get in the scan." He snaps.

I walk over the machine and hesitantly lay on the bed. I had never had a scan or really any sort before so I simply laid back still.

Kayla came up next to me and adjusts a thing by my head a few things by my arms.

"Is there and chance you could be pregnant?" She asks and I hesitate before I shake my head.

She taps a few things on a screen then leaves the room with Luca. I'm left alone to think as the machine turns on.

I know I can't move, but I'm so tempted to look down at my stomach. My hands are just itching to caress my tummy. Because even though I'd said otherwise, I was now quite sure that I was pregnant.

The scan buzzed to life and I remained still. Wiggling around to delay progress would probably make them angry, resulting in my safety, which I didn't want to risk.

Especially not now.

I couldn't believe I hadn't seen the signs sooner.

My emotions have been all over the place lately I told Jake after I had selfishly snapped at him. It's probably food poisoning I resolved after I threw up.

I also hoped that it wouldn't show up on the scan. I knew if it did, Kayla would be able to read it, or hopefully, since she should know what she's doing. It really came down to if the scan would show it. I had no idea what a ct scan showed in the body, so I only hoped.

"Get her out of the scan and bring her back to the exam room." I heard Luca tell someone from right outside the door.

It swung open to reveal Kayla, who stepped into the room and closed the door behind her. She made her way next to my side as her hands fluttered over me.

When she was done I stood up and walked over to Jake's clothes. I picked up his shirt. I could give up his pants and if I was gonna be in this gown anyways I figured I'd ditch the underwear.

I brought the shirt up to my nose and inhaled. It smelled like his scent. His indescribable scent that I couldn't get enough of. This was the only reason I would keep the shirt.

I made my way to the door to comply to Luca's wishes when Kayla cleared her throat.

"I could see it on the scan." She tells me. It's not her words that stop me, it's how she says them. She's clear and confident. Not nervous and jumpy.

"See what?" I asked stupidly. Well not all stupidly. I didn't actually think she was talking about the baby at first.
