"Well, I've changed." Helen put on her clothes and said softly towards the balcony. She realized that Charles might not be able to hear her through the glass door, so she walked over and opened the curtains. Just as she reached out her hand, Charles suddenly came out from behind the curtains and hugged her in his arms.
"Good morning, Honey!"
Helen was shocked. But she quickly came back to her senses and held Charles' waist. She said, "Hmm, honey, good morning."
After Helen finished washing up, they went downstairs and brought out the porridge prepared by the servant. Charles accompanied Helen to eat breakfast, no sooner and no later.
After breakfast, they went to the company. When they arrived at the building, Charles proposed to send Helen upstairs, but she refused.
As soon as Charles arrived at the company, his assistant came towards him. He reported on today's itinerary and the details of the contract between the British consortium and the Wilson Group. He had just finished reporting when they arrived at Charles' office.
When Charles heard the assistant mention the details of the acquisition, something flashed through his mind, but he didn't catch it. He was certain that he knew about the consortium because it rang a bell for him. It was just that he couldn't remember its name right now.
After Charles returned to his office, the assistant put the documents to be signed on the desk, turned around, and left.
Charles sat on the chair, turned on his computer, and opened the documents on the desk. Suddenly, his hand paused, and his mind flashed. He remembered which consortium it was.
It was the Hathaway Company, a world-famous insurance and diversified investment group in Country M. However, it was not a good reputation, but a notorious one.
It was best-known for its development strategy. When it was not strong, its owners depressed the poor start-ups, learned their business model, products and philosophy, then replicated a similar company, and finally bought it.
With this method, the Hathaway Company grew rapidly. Although it only had a short history of several decades, it had developed into a world-famous company.
It was known to operate in diverse fields like insurance, confectionery, media, non-bank finance, and investment as a conglomerate.
But few people knew that every time they invested in a company, they secretly negotiated with the leaders, promising benefits and giving them stakes at a price lower than the market price.
Charles didn't care since the Wilson Group wasn't very important for him anyway.
However, he recalled the incident about Julia. After that, Julia's foreign lover chased after her and even deliberately reunited with her under his nose. Soon after, his business was taken away. No matter what, there must be something wrong with it.
Charles wondered what role Julia and Tom Joe played in this affair.
He looked out of the window, his mind filled with a myriad of thoughts.
Although the losses this time weren't big, he worried that something unexpected would happen again.
Shaking his head, he turned back the documents. Now he could only continue investigating all the people involved in this matter. He couldn't let down his guard and confide in Julia. Therefore, he decided to have someone to keep a close watch on Julia. Perhaps, they would contact each other at some point.
As for the matter in Country M, he just needed to wait for York's news.
