"What do you think you're doing?" The words burst from York's lips as he rushed over to Claudia, stopping Hugh's actions.

York moved so fast that Claudia didn't even have time to react.

Hugh stood up and greeted York politely, "Mr. Ferguson."

York's voice was furious. "Hugh, I'm asking you to stay away from my wife!"

Claudia was in disbelief.

She pushed York away and corrected him in a firm tone, "York, we are divorced. Please mind your language and your tone!"

York grabbed Claudia's wrist, his voice lowering significantly when he spoke to her.

"I need to talk to you. Let's go to my car."

Claudia coldly wrenched her hand free.

As York tried to approach her again, Hawley suddenly darted between them, hugging Claudia's leg. "Don't bully my godmother!"

With the child blocking his path, York couldn't get near Claudia, and his expression turned exceedingly sour.

Hugh explained, "Mr. Ferguson, please don't get it wrong. My son was being mischievous and accidentally spilled a drink on Dr. Watkins's shoe. She strained her back a couple of days ago while treating a patient and can't bend down, so I was just helping her change her shoes."
