After work, Noelle went straight back to the hospital. Grace had just arrived as well, her eyes red from crying. She asked, "How did Mia end up in such a horrible state?"

Noelle's heart tightened. "It was an accident. But she's going to be okay."

She didn't share the full truth. Things were still dangerous, and the last thing she wanted was to drag Grace into it.

Grace nodded firmly. "I believe she'll pull through."

Just then, Noelle's phone buzzed—it was a message from Carl that read, "What do you want for dinner? Want me to pick you up?"

After reading the message, Noelle replied, "I'll come back on my own."

She turned to Grace. "I've got something to take care of. You should head home tomorrow, so your parents won't worry. I'll handle things with Mia."

Then, she sent Grace the apartment door code and told her to stay there for the night.

Grace frowned a little. "Where are you going?"

"Back to the Liddell residence," Noelle said plainly. She provided a brief explanation of her current situation with the Liddells.

Grace grabbed Noelle's arm. "When they give you a hard time, don't just take it lying down."

"I know."

Noelle headed straight to the Liddell residence, where Carl was waiting on the couch.

He smiled when he saw her walk in. "You're back. Perfect timing—dinner's ready."

Donovan was also there, looking pleased with himself.
