Donovan's slap left Xenia staring at him in disbelief. "Why did you slap me? That butler is the one you should be punishing!"

Pointing at Barnaby, she furiously continued, "He's targeting me on purpose. Don't believe a word he says; he's one of Noelle's men and is always on her side!"

Calmly standing by the side, Barnaby turned to Donovan and chimed in, "We followed your instructions, Mr. Liddell. But Ms. Quigley demanded food from an award-winning restaurant and requested the latest luxury goods. I believe these things could risk exposing her whereabouts, so I refused."

Xenia snapped, "And who gave you the right to reject me? Those are perfectly reasonable requests! I'm not even going out, and I just want them delivered here!"

Now that she'd returned to the Liddell residence, why couldn't she live like a normal person?

Donovan held the shattered memorial photo of his parents and glared at Xenia. "You did smash my parents' memorial photos; are you courting death?"

Xenia's expression shifted uneasily as her eyes landed on the broken frame. "I was just too mad earlier, and it was an accident. I didn't mean to break it."

But Donovan stepped forward to grab her chin. "Do you think just because I allowed you to stay, you can live like you used to?"

Xenia stammered, "B-But Donovan, you promised me, didn't you?"

"I let you stay because you still have some value, but if you keep acting up, get the hell out of the Liddell residence!"

"You can't treat me like this! We made a deal, and I can turn the Liddell family into one of the top families in Yasnia!"

"That title does sound tempting, but do you think you can make it happen?" Donovan scowled. Then, he pushed Xenia away and snapped, "Do you still think of me as the fool you used to manipulate?"

"You have to trust me, Donovan. I'm the only one truly by your side, and Noelle will never help you. She probably wishes the Liddell family would go bankrupt."

Donovan snapped, "Shut up. Don't you dare speak ill of my sister. I don't care, even if she doesn't help.
