Eugene squinted his eyes and said, "I'll check the kitchen. There should still be some groceries left."

The three of them could make do with a simple meal. Mia did not expect Eugene to agree so readily. Since she was worried about Noelle, she headed to the bedroom to look for her.

Mia walked in to find Noelle with a flushed face. It was clear that Noelle had fallen sick.

She touched Noelle on the forehead and said, "Noelle, are you okay? We should go to the hospital."

"I'm not going to the hospital," Noelle replied.

She was very resistant to the idea, as Cedric was still at the hospital after all. She did not want to see him.

Even so, Mia knew that they could not just do nothing. She rushed out of the room and began to look for the medicine box in the living room.

Eugene heard the noise and turned to look at her. "What are you looking for?"

"Noelle has a fever. I'm taking a look at the medicine box to see if there's any fever medicine," she replied.

He set down the spatula and walked over to Mia, took the medicine box from her, and followed her to the master bedroom.

Eugene took a look at Noelle and then reached out to check her vitals. "Some fever medicine should be enough to cure her fever."

Mia looked at him in surprise. "You know how to take vitals as well?"

He calmly took out the fever medicine as he replied, "I learned a thing or two. Medical help doesn't arrive as quickly during missions sometimes, so I've learned to give myself first-aid. I've also learned about using herbs in the mountains to heal myself."

Mia fell silent for a brief moment. She realized that working as a mercenary abroad must have been extremely dangerous and exhausting. She said nothing more and just helped Noelle to take the medicine.

Mia sighed and said, "I don't know why, but I've been feeling anxious all day."

She believed that something unusual must have happened for Noelle to be acting so unusual as well.

Eugene replied after a brief silence. "We can talk to her when she's awake. Let's eat for now."

"I don't feel like eating."

"I've made some porridge. The rest of the dishes will still need some time, so we can eat it together after Noelle wakes up."

When Eugene saw Mia coming out of the room alone, he immediately picked up a bowl and filled it with porridge before sprinkling some spring onion bits on. He then remained still as Mia walked up to him from behind.

She looked at him with surprise. "You can give it to me."

Eugene's gaze deepened as he turned to look at her delicate face. Mia suddenly blushed for some reason as she rushed forward to take the bowl from him.

He just sidestepped over her and said, "I'll bring it over."

He quickly left for the master bedroom and placed the bowl of porridge on the bedside table. When Noelle saw Eugene coming into the room, she finally remembered that Mia could not really be moving around due to her leg.

She lowered her voice and said, "I forgot that Mia has trouble walking."

"I'm sure she doesn't mind," Eugene placed the bowl down and took a step back.

Noelle could not help but ask, "Say, in your eyes, what kind of person is Cedric?"

She felt like she was going crazy from holding in her thoughts and emotions.
