Mia remained quiet the entire way back. On the other hand, Eugene was in a rather good mood and did not tease her further.

It was not until he dropped her off at the campus before he reverted to his usual alert, uptight demeanor and made a call to Alfred.

Alfred picked up instantly. "Any updates on Noelle?"

"If that certain someone is concerned, he should go and check on her himself," Eugene replied.

Alfred let out a sigh and replied, "You know his temper."

"She had a high fever last night and had not yet fully recovered. She doesn't want to go to the hospital."

Alfred grew anxious. "Why didn't she want to go to the hospital? How is she now?"

"I don't know why either. She just didn't want to go."

Alfred then glanced at the man lying on the hospital bed next to him. He had the call on the speaker, so Cedric heard everything, but he did not react to the news at all.

Alfred spoke up with frustration. "Please take her to the hospital."

"I won't. Whoever her boyfriend is should be the one taking her to the hospital. Tell Cedric that the car's mine now," Eugene replied.

With that, he hung up the call. He knew that Cedric was definitely freaking out right now.

On the other end, Alfred was fuming after being hung up on. He gritted his teeth and said, "Did you hear that? Noelle's sick, but no one's taking care of her."

It was only then that Cedric opened up his bloodshot eyes. "You'll go."

Alfred was fuming. "I'm not going. Eugene's right. Whoever her boyfriend is should be the one taking care of her instead."

"Aren't you friends with her?"

"So what if we're friends? I shouldn't be getting too close to her for no good reason. Am I supposed to carry her if she gets too weak?"

Cedric frowned and replied, "Find a woman to go with you."

Alfred looked at him and explained, "She's too heavy for another lady to carry. You're not going to run away from this forever, are you? You'll have to face reality sooner or later."

She stared at the screen of her phone, which had only rung a mere three times, and sneered. She wondered if he was feeling guilty, or if he had simply pressed on the wrong button.

Noelle then opened their WhatsApp chat log, but she did not know what to say. She eventually just tossed her phone aside.

She continued looking at her phone. If Cedric had not reached out to her and explained the situation himself, she would not go looking for him. She was determined not to make the first move.

Meanwhile, Cedric stared at his phone blankly. He had never once felt time dragging on so slowly.

He then started to think about what Eugene had said. He wondered if Noelle really was still sick. In the end, Cedric could not take it any longer and began preparations to head to her apartment himself.

Magnus came over with a worried look. "Cedric, you still have a fever, you know? Where are you going?"

"I'm going out for a bit. Keep an eye on things at the hospital for me," Cedric replied.

Magnus saw the cold expression on Cedric's face and could not help but speak up about it. "Are you going to your girlfriend's place?"

Cedric felt a sharp ache in his heart upon hearing the word 'girlfriend.' He could only wonder if Noelle was still willing to be together with him.
