Noelle gripped her spoon tightly at Donovan's words. She hadn't figured out how to bring it up. But now that Donovan had said it, the room grew awkward.

Noelle turned to Frank instinctively. She hadn't expected him to run his mouth to Donovan so quickly.

Frank immediately explained, "Noelle, I did mention it to Donovan, but I didn't think he'd bring it up."

Noelle sneered to herself. They were still the same as always.

Sensing the tension, Xenia hurriedly cut in. "Noelle, what is it you need from Carl? Just say it. He's always been good to you. He won't say no."

Carl shot Xenia a cold look. Xenia immediately clammed up under his gaze.

Carl turned to Noelle and said gently, "Let's eat. I'll agree to whatever you want."

Blake eagerly chimed in from beside him, "Trust him, Noelle. He's incredible."

Lucas nodded, too. "There's nothing Carl can't do."

Carl shook his head. "Don't say that. I was in the dark about what happened to Mom and Dad. It was only thanks to Noelle's quick thinking that the truth came to light. Otherwise, none of us would have ever known the truth."

His tone remained composed, but Xenia couldn't help but feel a chill run through her again.

She finally realized why Carl was being so distant. It was because of her father, but that wasn't her fault. Why should he take it out on her?

Frank tried to ease the tension. "Alright, let's eat."

Donovan scoffed. He was disappointed in Noelle's attitude. After the meal, Noelle headed straight to the bathroom.

When she came out, she ran into Donovan, who was waiting for her outside.
