I should have known. The second I saw him staring at me by the lockers, I should have fucking known.

Kye didn’t speak right away, he just stared at me with hard eyes and his lips were set in that dangerous, calm line that only meant one thing. Oh God, he knows. But how? My stomach turned, cold sweat prickling underneath my shirt. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. “You thought you could get away with it?” He growled, his voice low, but sharp enough to slice as he jerked me forward again.

“I… I’m sorry… we… I…” The words slipped out on instinct. I didn’t even mean to say them, but the second they left my lips, his grip tightened.

“What were you thinking? I had heard you,” He barked. “You and your brother, what made you guys think you could play smart with me? That would just leave that video lying around in a folder on my laptop?”

Tears welled up in my eyes, burning and blurring my vision. I tried to pull away, but he was faster. He shoved open a nearby closet door, dragged me in and shut it behind us. My heart was slamming against my Incase so hard that I thought it would burst through. Oh Lord.

“I said I was sorry,” I whispered, staring down at the floor, the tile suddenly the most interesting thing I had ever seen. “I… I was just s-scared that you would hurt me… again.”

His breathing was loud in the small space. For a second, I thought he might actually hit me. But then he stopped forward, the heat of his body pressing against mine. His hands didn’t grab anymore… they touched. One against my cheek and the other slid to my waist.

“You think I’m doing this because I hate you?” He asked, quieter now, but still sharp. “You think I’m messing with your life for fun?”

Yes. I swallowed hard. “I don’t know,” I mumbled instead. “You haven’t told me anything.”

He tilted my chin up, forcing me to meet his eyes. “I’m doing all these because I want you. I’ve wanted you since the first fucking moment I set my eyes on you. I’m obsessed with you and I want to own you, Ava. Every goddamn part of you.”

That word… own, it made my pulse spike. It was terrifying. But it also… stirred something I didn’t want to admit.

“You make me insane,” he continued. “I try to stay away and I can’t. I try to hurt you and it just makes me feel worse. I want to fuck you and then I want to hold you after. What the hell is that?”

Is he really going mad? Does he mean what he’s saying?
