Chapter 262
After hearing those words, Ashley seemed to lose all her backbone in an instant. She actually bowed and apologized to me in front of Cynthia.
“Aurora, I’m sorry.”
I was stunned.
I hadn’t expected her to actually lower her head and apologize, much less in this manner.
Cynthia’s first reaction wasn’t shock, but wariness: “Ashley, what trick are you trying to pull now?”
But Ashley ignored her and continued apologizing to me, her voice not loud bu particularly clear:
“I was wrong before. I shouldn’t have impersonated you to save peuple, and shouldn’t have targeted you… I’m sorry. I hope you can forgive me.”
Looking at her, I felt no emotional stirring, only finding it absurd.
I knew her too well. Unless she was truly pushed to a dead end, she would never lower her head.
But now, she was actually bowing to me.
Ashley kept her head down, motionless.
But from her trembling fingertips and reddened eyes, what I saw wasn’t remorse, but jealousy and hatred.
She probably wanted to grind her teeth and tear me to pieces.
I walked in front of her, looking down at her condescendingly, and said flatly:
. “No matter why you came to apologize, I won’t forgive you. You can get lost now.”
If she wanted to continue her act, she’d have to see if I’d give her the stage.
Hearing my words, her face stiffened, but she still gave me a venomous look before leaving through gritted teeth.
“She just left like that?” Cynthia was somewhat dazed. “Did she really turn over a new leaf?”
I chuckled lightly and shook my head.
“Of course not. I could tell she wasn’t sincere in her apology.”
“Then why did she come?” Cynthia frowned.
I shook my head: “I don’t know the reason yet, but she couldn’t have lowered her head voluntarily. Someone behind the scenes must have forced her.”
After Ashley left, she was so angry her hands kept trembling.
She clenched her fists tightly and walked to a black Bentley parked at the entrance, coldly spitting out:
“Are you satisfied now?”
The window slowly rolled down, revealing a familiar face–Hazel.
Hazel looked at her expressionlessly, her voice as cold as always:
“Although you were reluctant, you did complete what Ferris asked. I’ll report this faithfully.”
After saying this, she lifted her chin, signaling the driver to start the car.
But Ashley reached out to stop the Bentley, indignantly questioning her:

I’ve never seen you before. Why are you by Ferris’s side? Where’s Simon?”
Hazel looked at her like she was watching a clown, smiled lightly, her voice full of mockery.
This just shows you were never someone Ferris truly trusted.”
“Otherwise, how could you not even know who I am?”
Ashley’s face alternated between green and white. Her mouth opened and closed, but ultimately she couldn’t say a word.
The next second, the Bentley drove away.
Sitting in the back seat, Hazel watched Ashley’s furious appearance through the rearview mirror, but her heart was complicated.
She kept repeating a question in her mind:
Why would Dennis stand up for Aurora?
Dennis never liked meddling in others‘ affairs, and he would never have his people intervene for strangers–even she, as his secretary, understood
this.
After Ashley left, I prepared to go out and meet Edward and Nigel.
“I’ll go with you.” Cynthia immediately stood up.
“No need.” I gently refused. “I can go by myself.”
