Chapter 628: It’s time to finally be fair to myself.

Arwen signed her name at the bottom of the document before capping her pen up to set aside. "Share all the required details with the clients and ask them to proceed," she said, closing the folder and then handing it to Mia.

Mia nodded, taking it in her hands. "I will do it right away." And with that, she retreated from the office.

Arwen’s eyes trailed after her until she disappeared from her vision. She turned back to look at the screen. Although her eyes remained focused, it was not the file she seemed to be reading. Her thoughts seemed engrossed with something else.

So much that she didn’t realize when Mia returning to her office.

Her trance only broke when she heard being addressed.

"Madam!"

She blinked and then glanced at her secretary, her brows furrowing a little. "You are already back?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Mia nodded. "Yeah, it’s been a while since I entered. I even called you a few times, but you seemed to be in some deep thought."

Arwen’s brows formed slight creases, but then she shook her head. "Did you do what I asked you for?"

The assistant nodded. "Yes, ma’am. I have emailed the detailed report to the client and passed down your instructions."

"Good, then with that completed, I guess we could leave now." She moved her fingers to close the system before wrapping up the file that was left open in front of her. "Aurora has prepared the dresses we needed for the Quinn family’s event. We need to go and get the trials done."

Mia paused for a second as if comprehending something.

When Arwen saw her lost like that, she asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Ma’am, I was thinking, do we really have to visit their store?" She paused before explaining, "I mean, Aurora can send people over to get the trial done. You don’t have to make an extra effort."

Arwen arched a brow as if she were amused. "Why? Did I make you work a lot today? Are you tired?"

"No, ma’am. That’s not the situation," Mia quickly shook her head. "I didn’t mean it like that. I was just thinking of you. Recently, you asked me to keep your schedule as free as possible. So, I thought we could skip this."

Arwen looked at her and then pushed her chair to stand up. "Thank you for be so thoughtful, Mia. I truly appreciate it, but ... today, I can take a round and visit the store because I have something else to do there as well."

Mia didn’t understand. "Something else?"

"Mhm-hm~" Arwen didn’t explain but hummed in response. Her gaze turned a shade deeper.

Going there for a trial was not an excuse. Instead, she was taking the chance to find out something else amidst everything.

"Okay, ma’am," Mia spoke, already ready to move. "I will call your driver and ask him to get your car ready." And with that, she left to make the arrangements. While Arwen gathered her bag and mobile to leave her office as well.

Maybe today she will get a few more clues.

And Zenith did turn and follow him.

Slipping into the passenger seat next to him, she waited, watching him drive from one lane to another. She was his secretary. And she was one person who knew of his schedule.

But there wasn’t anything arranged —no appointment, no meeting. So, she was completely clueless about where they were heading.

And her confusion didn’t ease even after the call was pulled up in the parking lot of an apartment —not too in deep, but at the spot from where she could read the name of the residential society.

"Sir," she slowly muttered, turning to look at Ryan to ask again. "Why did we come here?"

Ryan stared outside. He didn’t answer immediately; rather, he took a moment before saying, "This is where Delyth has been staying." He then turned to her and answered further. "As for why we came here ..." he paused before adding, "it’s because of what you said earlier."

Zenith’s brows furrowed, but he smiled.

"I came here to unburden myself, Zenith," he said, his voice holding the hints of ease —like he was finally able to see the way to let go of all. "What you said earlier didn’t seem wrong. And, I think it’s time for me to finally be fair to myself. So, let’s go."

He reached to undo his seatbelt. However, Zenith didn’t move. Instead, her fingers remained curled around the belt, holding it in place.

When Ryan looked at her, she spoke with uncertainty in her tone. "Sir, I am happy that you were finally able to see through it. But ... but I don’t think bringing me along would be a good idea."
