Chapter 650: Traitor.

Her fingers slowly moved to feel the softness of his brows before trailing down to feel his eyelashes on her fingertips.

"Confronting you is easy," she murmured, hoping to get a response, but knowing she wouldn’t be getting one. "But I gravely doubt your fear would let you tell me anything." Her lips weakly curled, looking at his closed eyes and feeling his even breathing fanning gently her face.

She paused as she stared at him, taking in the calmness, he held on his face —devoid of the fear she had spotted in her demeanour, every time she asked about the possibility of the past they shared.

For once, she feared, it was his anger —that’s keeping him away from telling her the truth. But given how careful he had always been around her, she realized, he can’t even stay mad at her for seconds, how could he ever bear to give her such cruel punishment?

If there could be something stopping him, it has to be something grave ... something major.

She believed him on that ... even though she had gotten no proof of it.

If ever asked why she was so sure about it, the reasons she would state might make people think of her as a fool.

But what could she do, the matters of the heart work on foolish theories —ones that are devoid of rationality and logic.

The curl of her lips deepened as her fingers reached to feel the softness of his lips. Under her touch, it felt as warm as it felt against her lips.

The urge to have it once again against her lips was tempting, but she swallowed it to keep from waking him up.

Taking a deep breath, she just gently leaned in to press their forehead together. Resting like that for a moment, she let her heart feel the ease she had always felt around him from the first day.

Before, it used to intrigue her, but now ... now, she could guess the reason for the comfort she has always felt around him.

"It’s fine, keep your secret as long as you want," she muttered softly. "I won’t blame you. But I promise ... I promise that I will uncover it for both of us ... soon."

She pulled back, only to stare at him with a deep longing look. "No matter how difficult it is to find out, I will do it. Place your trust in me because I have taken charge of it ... charge of us." Her hand moved to cup the side of his face as she slowly caressed it with the love she had long realized for him.

Arwen watched him to her heart’s content. She never knew something like this would become her hobby ever, but now it felt like it was becoming one.

She could go like that for hours, but something interrupted her.

At first, she thought of ignoring it. But then her brows furrowed when she heard her stomach growl again.

"Traitor," she hissed. "Can’t you go half eaten even a night?" The dinner was great tonight, but using Aiden like that earlier made her lose her appetite. She knew he wouldn’t mind, but still she felt guilty of making him her pawn.

Her eyes sparkled. She remembered she got it last time when Aiden first took her out to have noodles near their old school. But she realized that even getting them home, she had forgotten to have them.

The habit of following the old rules was still in her bones.

"Finally, your day has come," she said, pulling out one packet for herself. Closing back the cabinet shelf, she looked back at the pack in her hand. "It’s an instant recipe. Shouldn’t be difficult, right?"

She had excelled in cooking a few of the dishes from different origins, but an instant noodle recipe was one she hadn’t tried before. She had only seen it in the Korean series. They only put water into it, waited for a few minutes and then it was done.

Thinking that it was as easy as that, she thought to follow the same steps. However, she soon realized she was doing something wrong.

Not knowing what it was, she thought to check on the internet; however, she then realized, she hadn’t brought the phone with her.

Now, if she went back to take it, she was sure she would wake Aiden up. But if she doesn’t, then she would probably have to end up sleeping empty stomach.

She was contemplating the risks when suddenly, a voice took her off guard.

"Need my help?"
