Chapter 665: Only when you promise me ...

Ryan had always found Aiden’s face familiar. It had struck a chord in his memory —an itch he couldn’t quite scratch.

But today, he remembered.

He remembered it all clearly.

How could he not, when he had just recalled the incident where he had met him for the first time?

At the hospital. It was him.

It was he who had brought Arwen to the hospital. He had saved her that day.

And today, he was standing there by her side as her husband. This ... was this a coincidence?

How could it be?

It was just too much to be a coincidence.

Ryan couldn’t understand. He tried to, but everything felt just too much to understand.

Not knowing what to do or who to ask, he grabbed his phone to ring up the only person who had been there with him when all that happened.

As he dialled the number, her heard it ring. He waited for the other end to get answered. But for some reason, no one responded. Just when the call was about to die away, the voice came through.

"Ryan!" came the voice, a little surprised.

"Daniel, where are you right now?" Ryan asked, urgency lacing her voice.

Daniel paused on the line when he heard him. "In the office. Why? What’s wrong?"

"Let’s meet, Daniel," Ryan said, already pushing the chair and standing up.

"Now?" Daniel asked, not understanding.

"Yes."

"But I am amidst something, Ryan. And it’s important. I can’t leave until it’s done."

Ryan paused in his steps, his brows furrowing a little. "How long will it take?"

"Probably, another hour," Daniel replied.

"Fine, I will wait for you at my place. Come when you are done."

Daniel hummed. "Okay. I will be there." And with that, they disconnected the call, and Ryan left the restaurant.

Meanwhile, in another private room —

The food had been served already.

And since Arwen hadn’t had anything the entire afternoon, found herself hungrier than she realized. She was almost embarrassed by how famished she felt.

But even so, her poise never faltered. Sitting next to Aiden at the elegantly set table, she ate slowly and gracefully, listening quietly to the ongoing conversation between Aiden and Director Thompson.

At first, the business talk meant little to her. It was all numbers and logistics, and market forecast that she had no prior information about. But slowly, bits of it began to make sense, and she connected the dots between the proposal and the collaboration they were discussing.

Still, if she was being honest, she was too bored with it. Even at the office, she does nothing different. It’s the same, so she made the meal the highlight instead.

Every dish seemed tailored to her preference —perfect seasoning, beautiful presentation and exactly what she craved. So, she enjoyed it.

Arwen watched them leave, and only when they were out of her vision did she turn to look at Aiden.

"You —"

Before she could speak, his strong, firm arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her up for a heated kiss.

Arwen’s hand went to press against his chest, trying to push him, but his hold around her felt too firm.

The kiss was powerful. Although she tried to resist it first, not long after, she couldn’t help but submit to his passion, matching his frevor.

Only when he was satisfied, he let her go.

Arwen panted, trying to catch her breath. "You — at ... least you should have given me a chance to explain," she said, glaring at him.

Who does that?

"Explain!" Aiden said, looking into her.

And she pursed her lips. "After punishing me, you want me to explain. Do you think I will agree?"

Aiden didn’t answer. He just kept staring at her, and she wanted to stomp on his feet.

How dare he bully her like this?

"You — fine, I will tell you. But before that, you need to tell me something. Only when you promise to answer me, will I tell you why I was here today."

She waited for him to agree.

Aiden’s gaze squinted a little, but he eventually nodded.
