Vespera went along pretending to have a fever. Honestly, with how sore her body felt and how wobbly her legs were, pretending to be sick didn't take any acting skills. Rebecca and Wanda helped Vespera back into bed.

Earlier, before stepping out, Vespera had opened all the windows to air out the lingering traces of intimacy. She had also hidden the now-stained sheets as discreetly as possible. However, she missed one crucial detail.

The tube of ointment had rolled near the pillow and was now lying there in plain sight. As Rebecca helped Vespera adjust the covers, her sharp gaze caught the item. She was just about to ask about it when her gaze happened to land on the label.

Instantly, Revecca froze, and her face turned crimson.

The label read, "For external use only. For the treatment of redness and swelling."

Where was the redness and swelling? Who was red and swollen?

At that moment, Vespera shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position. Her brows knit together as if she were feeling sore.

Rebecca bit her lips and imagined what had happened. She thought that it was as expected of a man who always ate nourishing and restorative foods. Dominic was too powerful.

"Becca, why is your face so red? Are you catching a cold?" Wanda asked, walking over from the other side of the bed.

It was only then that Vespera looked at Rebecca.

"No, I'm fine," responded Rebecca quickly. She bent down and shoved the ointment under the pillow before straightening up and continuing, "I'm not catching a cold."

Vespera didn't know what to say, while Wanda didn't question it. Wanda just said, "That's good then."

Rebecca could tell that Wanda had something to talk to Vespera about, so she said, "Mrs. Gildon, I'll go and clean up the table."

"I'm sorry. Please don't be angry," mumbled Vespera. Her cheeks burned with shame. She had expected the scolding anyway.

"How could I not be angry?" Wanda's voice cracked. She took a long breath and calmed herself before continuing, "From now on, you need to be honest with yourself. If you aren't planning to be with him long-term, leave. Quit this job and walk away. But if you do care about him enough to take the risk…"

She sighed, feeling helpless and worried, and added, "Take that risk. Don't pretend everything is fine when it isn't. Don't run from it. You must face it and own it. No matter what happens, your dad and I will always be here. We'll always stand behind you."

Vespera's eyes welled up. She reached forward and hugged Wanda, arms wrapped around the latter's neck. She murmured, "I'm sorry."

Wanda patted Vespera on the back and said, "There's nothing to be sorry for. I'm just afraid you'll get hurt. Initially, I hoped that you and Benjamin would end up together, but you ended up meeting someone whose family stands even higher than the Munoz family. Maybe you truly were born to be a wealthy heiress."

If Vespera could return to the Locke family, would the Reid family still have any reason to object? Perhaps it was time to let her go back.
