Vespera didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Wanda's final comment. She curled up against Wanda's shoulder and murmured, "Of course, I'm a wealthy heiress. I've got the best parents in the world. I'm basically the wealthiest person alive. Who could possibly be happier than me?"

Wanda's heart softened. She gently stroked Vespera's hair, emotion welling up in her chest. She didn't want to send Vespera back to the Locke family.

However, if Vespera was set on Dominic, putting her back where she rightfully belonged might open doors that were otherwise shut. Still, a flash of doubt crossed her mind. Selena had once mentioned that the Locke family was another pit of wolves wearing sheep's clothing.

Wanda didn't know what to do. She felt torn in two.

Watching Wanda sink into thought, Vespera felt even more guilty. Nonetheless, getting married to Dominic wasn't going to happen. Should she break up with him then?

What used to feel like the obvious next step now left Vespera with an aching void. Why did the idea of breaking up feel so terrifying now? She only liked Dominic, and that was it. So, why did it hurt so much?

Just then, Wanda said, "Flattering me won't help. I'm watching you now. You can either break it off, or you figure out how to make it work."

Vespera thought, "Or maybe we fail to make it work and actually have to break up in the end."

She answered, "Alright."

Wanda stayed until the afternoon before heading home. Vespera spent the rest of the day in bed, unable to stop thinking about Dominic.

She had always told herself to take things as they came, but now that everything was coming to a head, she realized she hadn't truly been as carefree as she pretended.

Dominic got off work right on time. When he returned, he didn't go to his penthouse. Instead, he went straight to the 13th floor.

Vespera opened the door for Dominic, and the moment he stepped inside, he pulled her into his arms and carried her straight to the couch. He asked, "Does it still hurt? Did you remember to use the ointment?"

His hand drifted toward her lower stomach.

Speechless, Vespera caught Dominic's hand and said, "I used it."

"Really?" Dominic looked doubtful as he added, "Let me check and see if it's any better."

A flush crept across Vespera's face. She snapped, "Can you please stop obsessing over that?"

Dominic rubbed her stomach and said, "It was my fault, so I'm taking responsibility. Also, I figured out why I lost control last night."

Vespera thought back, and honestly, she had kind of lost control, too. Then, something clicked. She sat up and scrambled to the bathroom. She used her phone and snapped a picture of the aromatherapy essential oil bottle.

After that, she sent Yasmine a voice message, saying, "Be honest. What is this aromatherapy essential oil?"

Yasmine replied almost immediately, "Haha. So, you used it? Isn't it crazy? I heard it works on all genders. Once you smell it, it's all over. People call it an accelerant. It heightens everything."

Vespera stared at the message in stunned silence. A while later, she clenched her jaw and responded, "Thanks so much."

It wasn't an accelerant. It was an eruptive. Vespera and Dominic were already burning hot on their own, and this oil poured gasoline on a bonfire and blew the roof off.

Meanwhile, Yasmine was out shopping at a mall when she saw the reply. Something about it felt ominous. With a guilty grin, she texted, "Did you use it with Dominic?"

Vespera didn't reply. Behind her, Dominic had approached her silently and taken the bottle from her hand. With a stern expression, he asked, "Did Yasmine give you this? What if it hadn't been me who showed up last night?"

Vespera questioned, "Who else would show up here at night besides you?"

Dominic immediately answered, "Luke."

Vespera didn't want a war, but she still wanted to keep walking beside Dominic, at least for a little while longer.

Because Dominic asked that question when Vespera was in a dilemma, she couldn't react in time. A while later, she finally responded, "Oh, that? I was upset, but I'm over it. It isn't a big deal anymore. You don't have to keep blaming yourself."

Dominic didn't say anything. Instead, he squeezed Vespera's hand and asked, "What do you want to eat? I'll cook. If you don't like my cooking, I'll have Raymond make something."

Vespera casually listed a few dishes and added, "There's food in the fridge. My mom stocked it earlier. You can just make anything."

Dominic got up. He removed his jacket and laid it on the edge of the bed. Just as he turned to leave, Vespera suddenly called out, "Dominic."

Dominic turned and hummed in response. Looking at him, Vespera wanted to say something, but stopped. His eyes were dark. She didn't even know why she had called his name. She mumbled, "I want to drink soup."

Dominic answered, "Alright."

Without asking anything else, Dominic left the room. On the other hand, Vespera sank into the bed, feeling suffocated by everything she hadn't said. She decided not to bring it up and just go along with the flow.

Perhaps Fawn would pressure Vespera again after Dominic returned to the Reid residence tonight.

Wanda was disapproving, while Fawn was flat-out opposed.

In the end, it wasn't all that different. So, why should Vespera be the one to speak up first?

Not long after, Dominic had finished cooking and entered the room, wanting to carry Vespera to the dining area.

Before Dominic could lift Vespera, she protested, "I can walk."

Nevertheless, the moment she got out of bed, he carried her.
