"I don't know much about that," the maid said. "But that kidnapping case was a huge deal back then. Mrs. Osborne is related to the Potter family, and because of that incident, she lost it. Back then, she was very close to Mr. Andrew Potter. When he got hurt, she couldn't take it. She got sick that same day."

Debra tilted her head. "I don't think I've ever seen news about that kidnapping, but you know about it. Does that mean it was big back then?"

"Oh, absolutely," the maid said. "The Potter family was a big name. When that mess went down, every paper was all over it. I was just a kid, but I remember the headlines. They said bandits kidnapped Mr. Jordan Potter and demanded cash."

She paused. "Wait a sec. How do you not know this? Weren't you kidnapped with him back then?"

"What do you mean?" Debra froze.

Marion walked up, and the maid stepped aside. "Mr. Houston."

"Why did you come up?" Debra asked.

"It's time to head back," he said.

Debra's mind was still spinning from what the maid had said. But they'd come here to find Erica, not dig into old secrets. She didn't have time to dwell on it now.

Hand in hand, they headed downstairs. Jordan was already waiting in the hall.

"Let's go," Jordan said. "I'll drive."

"Okay," Debra replied, turning to Marion. "The maid mentioned that kidnapping case from way back. You told me you couldn't find any of those old newspapers."
