"Alright, I don't need you today. Go back to your dorm," he added, ruffling her hair.

Debra stared at him, stunned.

He didn't need her, but he had dragged her out and made her walk so far.

She looked back. The dorm building was a mile away. She suddenly felt sticking to her own business wasn't such a bad idea.

Drake wandered around the campus alone. He passed the basketball court, the main field, the two cafeterias in the west district, the coffee shop, and the convenience store.

School days seemed easygoing and relaxed. This kind of life was something he had never experienced before.

Before he knew it, he'd walked a long way. He stopped, not even turning around, but he knew Debra was trailing him.

"Why are you following me?" he asked.

Debra had kept her distance, deliberately slowing her steps to stay discreet. But Drake still sensed it.

"Uh... I was worried you might..." she stammered.

"Worried I'd jump off a building?" he cut in.

She nodded, and he added, "Relax. Even if everyone else in this school jumped, I wouldn't," Drake said, annoyed. "Stop bugging me. Go back to your dorm."
