William and Noah arrived just in time to see Irvin's and my final exchange.

Both men were exceptionally sharp. They could tell I hadn't forgiven Irvin because he had gotten injured while saving me again. William and Noah also knew I hadn't gotten back together with him because of the babies.

They could also see that Irvin had truly matured. Forget about fighting me for custody of our children, he wouldn't even use them as leverage to rekindle our relationship.

This made Noah, who had been tightly wound with worry, relax.

I had once loved Irvin too deeply. Because of this, Noah had always been afraid that I had the intention of getting back together with him. He had also always been scared that I might go back to Irvin if he put me in a dilemma after waking up.

Noah could accept me being with his uncle or even someone else. However, the one thing he couldn't accept was me getting back together with Irvin. He just couldn't. He could never forgive everything Irvin had done to me.

Hearing Noah exhale so audibly beside him, William smiled as he patted his shoulder. Then, he gestured for Noah to leave with him.

Seeing that there was nothing left to worry about now, Noah followed William out of the hospital.

Once they were outside, he turned to William and couldn't help asking, "Why aren't you worried or nervous, Uncle Will. Is it because you don't actually like Emi that much?"

Noah knew William to be heartless and ruthless. He had never loved anyone or anything, nor did he have any weaknesses.

And despite Irvin's miraculous awakening, he hadn't been nervous at all. He wasn't even concerned that I might get back together with Irvin.

That was why Noah had assumed it was because William's romantic feelings for me weren't strong enough. And because of this, he couldn't resist thinking that, since this was the case, did it mean William could break off our engagement and return me to him?

It was William's nature, and the result of years of experience. That was why he could love so logically and wisely.

He would be overjoyed if he could have me. And if he couldn't, he would be pained. But even if the pain was agonizing, he would still get up the next morning and greet the rising sun.

"Whether what I feel counts as love or not, Emi doesn't belong to me or you," William said. "She won't become yours just because I give her to you at your request."

He continued, "If she has feelings for you, I wouldn't have been able to snatch her away from you even if I tried. And if she doesn't, she still wouldn't be with you even if I disappeared from her life forever."

Noah still had more to say. However, William's cutting words had left him utterly speechless.

And being the good uncle that he was, William didn't continue on. He simply patted Noah on the shoulder and said, "Chin up! Everything passes eventually, and you'll move on from this too."
