Luke's pace was lightning fast. By noon, Josefina's phone buzzed with his call.

"Got news for me?" Josefina asked, anticipation tinging her voice.

Luke's voice wavered slightly, betraying his discomfort. "Boss, I've got good news and bad news. Which one do you wanna hear first?"

Josefina paused, mentally preparing herself. "Hit me with the good news," she said, bracing for impact.

"The good news is, I found Paula. Drove non-stop for four hours to get to her place. She confirmed it herself—Lena pushed Emily down the stairs."

Excitement surged through Josefina, quickly dampened by the looming bad news.

"And the bad news?"

"The bad news is... Paula's dead."

Silence hung heavy in the air.

Luke hurried to explain, "By the time I got there, she was already gone. Heard she'd been in bad shape, then took a sudden turn for the worse. I recorded her, but she was barely coherent. This recording won't hold up in court, and Lena can easily deny it. If only I'd gotten there sooner..."

Josefina's spirits plummeted. "Luke, it's not your fault. I missed this; I gave Lena the opening she needed."

She had believed Lena had covered all her tracks, not accounting for a loose end.

"Boss, you can't put this on yourself. With everything you handle daily, some things slip through. Lena just got lucky, plain and simple. She's got quite the network backing her."

"That network is exactly why I need to know who's working with her."

"Let's dig deeper into the Harrison family's staff records," Josefina continued. "Check everyone who's left and still there. I don't want to miss anything."
