Lauren and Ruby bolted out of the house, hearts pounding like crazy, as if their lives depended on it.

The place was empty—no maids left. They couldn't handle Billy's craziness anymore, always terrified he might snap and do something awful.

Lauren and Ruby fled the villa, Billy's bloodshot eyes glued to their retreating forms as a sinister plan formed in his mind.

Ruby, still trembling, took a sip of lukewarm water on the sofa.

"Mom, we have to get out of there. I can't take it anymore. Every day feels like it might be our last."

Ruby was genuinely scared out of her wits.

Lauren shook her head, “If we leave, what if your dad sells the house? Tomorrow, I'll call the psych ward and have them take him away! Don't worry, Ruby, I won't let that bastard Billy hurt you.”

Ruby's eyes lit up with an idea.

"Mom, what if we sell the house ourselves? With the money, we could go abroad and find my brother. No more living in fear."

"Ruby, that's actually a great idea. Let's do it. First thing tomorrow, we'll sell the house."

They exchanged a relieved smile, fear momentarily forgotten.

With money, fear seemed to vanish.
