Ruby drove Lauren to the hospital, but the doctors were stumped and couldn't figure out what was wrong with her arm.

Ruby was in disbelief. "Mom's arm just won't lift. That guy barely tapped her with the back of his knife, and now she can't raise it at all."

Lauren tried to lift her arm again, but it was no use.

Frustrated, Lauren lashed out, "What kind of quacks are you? How did you even become doctors? Did you get your licenses from a cereal box?"

The doctor, feeling insulted and angry, retorted, "I suspect you're just here to cause trouble! Your arm is fine, and the X-rays show nothing."

He called security to escort Lauren and Ruby out, not wanting them to cause any further commotion.

Standing at the hospital entrance, Lauren and Ruby looked as forlorn as if they'd lost everything.

"Mom, what the heck is wrong with your arm? The X-ray shows nothing, but you still can't lift it?"

Lauren shouted in irritation, "Of course I can't lift it! If I could, do you think I'd be here?"

A light bulb went off in Ruby's head. "That guy must have slipped something into your system when he had the chance; otherwise, how could the machines not detect anything? Your arm is fine; it's just been drugged!"

Lauren's eyes widened as she realized the plausibility of Ruby's suggestion.

"Mom, let's hold off on confronting Josefina for now. Maybe if those people see we're not pursuing them, your arm might just recover."

Lauren was choked with anger but had no other options.

With a heavy sigh, Lauren felt the weight of the world pressing down on her.

Josefina, upon learning of Lauren's incapacitated right arm, praised Tori for a job well done.

"Tori, you've outdone yourself. Lauren's too busy dealing with her own problems to come after me. And with Billy absconding with the funds, she's even less likely to bother me."

Tori asked, bewildered, "Why would Billy leave with the money? By taking off, he's dumped all the problems on Lauren and Ruby."
