Lucy continued, her voice breaking with desperation. “Mom, you have to tell James to do something! If nothing else, have someone create a psychological evaluation report like last time. As long as they can prove I have mental health issues, I can be bailed out!”

Her sobs grew louder. “Mom, I can’t stay here a single day longer!”

Mrs. Chancer sighed deeply, feeling helpless. She had spent the past few days trying to convince James to get Lucy out, but her son had grown unyielding. He hadn’t even come home, let alone answered her calls.

She understood that James had made up his mind this time. “I think your brother is determined not to help you this time. And it’s not just him—your grandfather even called specifically to tell us to leave you be.”

Lucy stared at her mother in disbelief, clinging to her arm as tears streamed down her face. “Mom! Even if James and Grandpa don’t believe me, you have to! They’ve all been tricked by that woman! Grandpa has always favored Sarah over us, and now James is acting strange too. I heard from a few friends that he’s been visiting Sarah to comfort her. He must have fallen for her again! That’s why he won’t save me!”

Mrs. Chancer frowned thoughtfully, considering Lucy’s words. There was some truth in what she was saying.

With a cold huff, she said, “As long as I’m alive, that woman will never set foot in this family!”

After their shared outrage subsided, Lucy began thinking about her situation again. Suddenly, she remembered something Vivian had said at the stables.

Her eyes lit up as she grabbed her mother’s hand. “Mom! You can help me! There’s someone you can find—she’ll definitely be able to get me out of here!”

“Who?” Mrs. Chancer asked skeptically, her brow furrowing.

By early evening, Lucy had just finished dinner.

Over the past few days in confinement, she had learned that if she didn’t eat, she would be left hungry for hours, so she had no choice but to compromise.

She was soon summoned and escorted to a small room with tightly closed windows and a locked door.

“What condition?”

“It’s simple—do as I say,” Vivian said, her tone calm but commanding.

Lucy hesitated but quickly agreed. “I’ll do whatever you want, just get me out of here!” Tears welled up in her eyes, her voice trembling with desperation.

James had abandoned her, and her mother was powerless to help. Vivian was her only hope of escaping this nightmare. “Please… I’ll do anything.”

Vivian stood up, satisfied, and walked toward the door. Without turning back, she said, “I’ll help you.”

The moment Vivian left, Lucy collapsed onto the chair, feeling drained but hopeful. Finally, she was going to get out of here.
