Zachary leaned back against the sofa, raising his wine glass for another sip. The moonlight cast a pale glow on his face, making him look like a lifeless Greek statue.

Finally, at two in the morning, their drinking session came to an end.

Zachary helped Steven to the guest room and laid him down, but then heard him mumbling something. "What did you say?"

He leaned in closer to make out what Steven was muttering.

"Scarlett... how could you be so irresponsible..."

Zachary's lips curved into a slight smile - so Scarlett was the cause of his heartache.

He took out his phone and recorded Steven's mumbling.

In two days, Mr. Anderson of Meridian Group would celebrate his birthday. To give back to society, he had decided to host his birthday celebration as a charity auction. Attendees needed to contribute one of their collectibles for auction, with all proceeds going directly to charity.

Without doubt, this grand auction would be East Coast's most talked-about event, especially since the coveted Crystal Bay was in Mr. Anderson’s possession, and he was considering selling it.

Sarah and Scarlett had planned to shop for designer dresses together. As soon as they met, Sarah noticed something was off with Scarlett.

She teased, "You're usually so excited when we go shopping. What's wrong today?"

Scarlett pouted. "Nothing..."

Sarah pretended to be casual. "Fine, fine. Since nothing's wrong, don't come crying to me later when you can't hold it in anymore."

Scarlett's eyes widened as she grabbed Sarah's arm. "You! How can you do this to me?"

"I was terrified at the time. I couldn't think about anything else - I just wanted to leave."

Even now, she would still choose to run.

Sarah suddenly remembered the voice recording Zachary had sent her last night. She carefully asked Scarlett, "So how do you feel about him now?"

"I don't know. We were both drunk that night. You can't really say who was right or wrong. Maybe he regrets it too. Perhaps it's better if we just pretend it never happened," Scarlett said with a bitter smile.

If Sarah hadn't heard yesterday's recording, she might have supported Scarlett's approach. But now she knew that Steven had probably developed feelings for Scarlett without even realizing it himself.
