Scarlett looked down to see it was her favourite mushroom soup.

"I won't drink it," she mumbled.

Steven pushed the bowl closer to her. "You must finish it."

As they went back and forth, Sarah watched knowingly, hiding her smile behind her hand.

Melvin had also noticed something and spoke up, ”Why don't you join us for dinner once you've finished cooking?"

"No!" Steven and Scarlett shouted at Melvin in unison.

After all the dishes were served, Steven glanced at Scarlett. "Come with me for a moment. I have something to give you."

Scarlett was confused but obediently stood up and followed him.

In Steven's break room, which was as well-appointed as a hotel suite befitting a top chef, Scarlett stood at the doorway, reluctant to enter. "What do you want to give me?"

"How can I give it to you if you don't come in?"

Scarlett finally stepped inside. As soon as she did, Steven slammed the door shut and pinned her against the wall.

"Why did you run away that day?"

Steven was breathing heavily, seemingly struggling to contain his anger.

"I..."

That day, Steven had been brewing ginger tea for her in the kitchen. The sound of him chopping ginger had made her restless.

The events of that night were still vivid in her mind - why had they ended up in bed together again?

Watching Steven's back in the kitchen, she couldn't tell if she liked him or not, but her racing heart couldn't lie. In her panic, she had limped away from his home.

"Answer me." Steven's eyes were blazing.

Sarah gave a bitter smile. "You were right from the start. I should have listened to you. Vivian suits him better."

She was ambitious, powerful, and calculating - someone who would act decisively without hesitation. She would be a great asset to Zachary's career.

"No one is perfectly suited from the beginning. I only tried to stop you and him because I was afraid you'd get hurt." He kept the last thought to himself: once you've been hurt, you should learn from it.

“Melvin, could you give me a section of Pine Mist Island? It doesn't need to be large - just a small area in the resort portion would be fine."

Melvin looked at her curiously. "Sure, but what do you want to do with it?"

"I can't say yet. It's a secret for now," Sarah smiled.

"We only got Pine Mist Island thanks to you, and the Sanders Corporation is yours too. You can do whatever you want," Melvin smiled.

He had never intended to keep his cousin’s property - he was just managing it for her.
