Mrs. Chancer pointed at Sarah's face angrily. "You b*tch! You're doing this on purpose. You know Charlotte is also a victim - it was all Vivian's doing! Why not prosecute her? Are you just picking on the weak?"

Sarah scoffed, "Don't you know Vivian was the one who released the evidence against Charlotte? She's really the mastermind, isn't she? You're here confronting me but not her - who's really picking on the weak?"

"You-!" Mrs. Chancer’s face turned pale with anger. Sarah maintained her composure, looking at her coldly. "Please leave. You're not welcome here."

As Mrs. Chancer left, she threatened, "We'll see about this!"

In the psychiatric hospital, Lucy had just finished breakfast. After so many days there, she'd started to adjust. She'd lost all hope after her mother's repeated attempts to make her take the blame.

She'd even begun to fear visitors, not wanting to hear more cold words from people she once trusted.

Yet an hour later, she saw her mother again.

She was sitting in her room when a nurse brought Mrs. Chancer in.

"Lucy, it's me," Mrs. Chancer approached with a trembling voice.

Lucy fearfully stepped back, refusing to look at her. "Are you here to convince me to take the blame again? I won't agree. Just go!"

“But I’ll remember… I remember everything! I remember you coming again and again asking me to take the blame, remember how you didn't show any concern even after my suicide attempt. Mom? I wonder if you've become a different person - you used to care about me the most."

Her eyes welled up with hurt tears. Before, her mother had always comforted and protected her when she was wronged, but now...

She wiped her tears, her voice turning cold again. "I refuse. No matter how many times you ask, I'll refuse. Charlotte committed a crime and tried to frame me. I refused then, so how could I possibly confess to it now?"

Wouldn't that be completely humiliating?

Mrs.Chancer had likely anticipated her refusal and remained calm. "If you won't confess, don't ever call me mom again."
