"Marianne," Vivian asked with reddened eyes, "why didn't he stay with me last night?"

The question of love - the answer was obvious. She didn't need to beat around the bush; even she knew how Zachary felt.

Marianne averted her gaze, stammering, "Miss Wilson, Mr. Reynolds probably had

some business to attend to. Besides, didn't he already agree to your father's proposal?"

Vivian knew he'd agreed, but being forced and doing it willingly were two different things.

Though she considered herself exceptional, matters of the heart were never simple.

Then her phone rang.

"Miss Wilson, after leaving your house yesterday, Mr. Reynolds went straight home."

Vivian breathed a sigh of relief, but what came next made her heart clench.

"Around 1:30 AM, Mr. Reynolds went out again."

Before the caller could finish, Vivian cut in urgently, "Did he go to Ink Bar?"

"Yes, Mr. Reynolds went to Ink Bar and left with a woman. They were going to take a car, but she said something, and Mr. Reynolds ended up walking with her instead..."

Vivian was breathing heavily, nearly throwing her phone in rage. Barely maintaining her composure, she asked, "Then what? Where did they go?"

The person on the line paused before continuing, "Miss, I'm not sure. I couldn't follow them. The streets were empty, and they were walking - it would have been too obvious to tail them."

"We used to see all those rumors about Zachary and Sarah Sanders in the news, but have you noticed since Miss Wilson came back? She's the only one seen with him now. Sarah's been completely pushed aside."

Sarah stared at the comments on her phone, her face darkening. The worst part was that she couldn't find any way to argue - they were all right.
