Manager Sullivan stood frozen, unable to process what was happening. The person who should be dead was standing right in front of him, completely unharmed.

So she hadn't returned to the Wesler house last night?

"Who said I died?" Sarah asked with a graceful smile. "Manager Sullivan, if I had actually died, my cousin would have driven straight to this factory within a day to deal with it. You probably don't know, but it was originally my cousin who was supposed to come to West Ridge. I decided to come at the last minute."

Her smile remained calm as she continued, "Manager Sullivan, I've been at this factory for two days but haven't met all the workers. I asked you several times to call a meeting, but you always refused with some excuse. Now suddenly everyone's gathered!"

Manager Sullivan's face paled with anger. He shot a glare at Charlie, who was hiding in the crowd.

Charlie hadn't expected this either. He dared not look at the manager or Sarah.

Sarah addressed the workers directly. "I know some of the factory's machines are malfunctioning, but for some reason, the factory manager has never submitted any reports to headquarters about these issues. Not only has he failed to report them, but he's been telling everyone that headquarters has abandoned you. Manager Sullivan, what's your real intention?"

Her cold gaze fixed on the manager. Though he had provided no useful information, Sarah had gathered key details by hiring a hacker to access the manager's emails. While there were no obvious clues in the correspondence, Sarah could see Manager Sullivan had been deliberately stirring conflict between the workers and headquarters.

The workers exchanged glances, murmuring among themselves. If Sarah hadn't spoken up, they might never have known the truth.

Sullivan laughed bitterly. "Do you really think reporting it would solve anything? Do you think headquarters would send all new equipment? Don't be naive!"

He let out a self-deprecating laugh. "The roads in West Ridge aren't even properly paved. It's hard enough getting a car here, let alone importing German equipment. The factory's revenue has declined year after year. Do you really think headquarters still cares about us just because of old Mr. Sanders? No, they'll abandon us!"

Sarah shook her head emphatically. "Headquarters already knows about the equipment issues. The last time they sent someone here, it was to inspect the equipment, but you had them thrown out!"

She stared directly at Manager Sullivan. His words sounded polished and convincing, but she wasn't buying it.
