Lincoln felt like he'd been struck by lightning. He couldn't believe his ears as he stared at Morris. "You're Kelly's son? Really Kelly's son?" he stammered in disbelief.

Morris nodded. "Yes, Uncle."

Tears streamed down Lincoln's face as he sank onto the couch, overwhelmed.

"Can you take off your sunglasses so I can see your face?" he asked, his voice filled with emotion.

Nathalie quickly stepped in, covering Morris's eyes with her hand. "Dad, Nathan's eyes were injured; he can't handle bright light."

Her protective gesture warmed Morris's heart, but it nearly gave Lincoln a heart attack.

Lincoln's irritation at Nathalie's protectiveness quickly faded as he turned his full attention to Morris. "What's wrong with your eyes?" he demanded.

Nathalie explained, "When Nathan was a kid, he got kidnapped. Those people abused him, and that's why he has eye and leg problems."

Lincoln exploded with anger, cursing Gavin. "The Rowland family, with all their money and power, couldn't even keep a child safe. Your father is a disgrace. Couldn't he hire more bodyguards for you?"

Morris stayed calm. "That was a long time ago. No use dwelling on past mistakes."

Lincoln replied, "You're quite forgiving, always thinking of him."

Morris went silent.

Nathalie noticed Morris's fists were clenched tight, clearly holding back a storm of emotions.

She quickly changed the subject. "Dad, I'm taking Nathan upstairs to rest."

Lincoln's face was serious. "Go on." He waved them off reluctantly.

Nathalie guided Morris out of the room quickly.

With tears in her eyes, Nathalie vowed, "Nathan, I couldn't protect you before, but now I won't let them manipulate you again. Tell me, do you really not like Ashley? If so, I'll help you break off the engagement. You shouldn't compromise because of the Rowland family."

Morris hesitated, a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"Do you still have feelings for her?" Nathalie pressed.

Morris couldn't help but smile wryly.

Apart from Nathalie, he had feelings for no one.

Yet Ashley was his shield against love. If he cut ties with Ashley, where would that leave his feelings for Nathalie?

"What do you think of her?" Morris suddenly asked.
