"What is it?" Morris asked.

Nathalie's long lashes fluttered, a hint of vulnerability in her eyes. "That day, I saw you huddled beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. In that moment, I almost lost my mind. I thought, if she was truly your soulmate, how could she leave you in such a place?"

Morris's eyes softened with a tender smile. It was no wonder Nathalie had always been wary of Ashley; she had sensed the hollowness in their relationship from the very start.

Morris confessed, "Honestly, I'm not into her. I don't even want to get married." He lowered his gaze, unable to face the disappointment in Nathalie's eyes.

Nathalie felt a deep sadness. "Someone as amazing as you deserves more than loneliness, Nathan. I won't force you into anything, but I hope you find someone who makes your heart race and lets you feel the warmth of a real home."

She gently stroked his hair, gratitude in her touch. "You brought my father back to me, gave me a family again. I want to offer you the same."

Morris felt a wave of panic. What was Nathalie getting at?

Morris was at a loss. "Nathalie, I'm not interested in any of them."

"Then what do you like?" Nathalie inquired.

Morris was surprised. "Hasn't anyone tried to woo you all these years?"

Nathalie pouted, her cherry lips forming a small, sad curve, nodding. "Even if I'm not into them, no one's really interested in me. I'm divorced and flawed. I'm not exactly a catch in the dating world."

Morris chuckled softly. "Oh, come on. It's not that no one likes you. It's just that your dad is like a guard dog."

Nathalie realized, "You mean my dad's been scaring them off?"

Morris nodded. "In his eyes, you're the best there is. So, he wants the best for you."
